Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce the title hollow fibers usable for dialysis and ultrafiltration, having improved membrane separation characteristics, inner shapes, and mechanical properties, by extruding viscose through an annular orifice of a double-pipe nozzle with a liquid core material through an inner orifice.
CONSTITUTION: Viscose having a viscosity of 40W1,000 poises and an ammonium chloride value of 7W20 is extruded through an annular orifice; a liquid, e.g. isopropyl myristate, having poor compatibility with the viscose and coagulating properties as a core material, through the inner orifice. The extruded viscose is coagulated in a coagulation bath comprising 30W50 g/l of sulfuric acid and 20W 250 g/l of sodium sulfate at 20W70°C, and passed through an acid regeneration bath at 40W75°C to give hollow regenerated cellulose fibers having an inside diameter of 30W800μ, a wall thickness of 5W30μ, smooth inner walls, a water permeability of 0.1×10-3W10.0×10-3 g/cm2. atm. min, and a tensile strength ≥ 0.5 g/d.
