Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve the simplification of constitution and production by combining optical fibers of the specific structure. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 1, 3, 4 which consist of wires of a circle of about 0.1mmphi in section and whose end faces are cut square and an optical fiber 2 whose and face 2a is diagonally cut at 45 deg. are prepared. The optical fibers 1 thru 4 are then contained and disposed, with their end faces being butted, in a cruciform groove 6 of a substrate 5 composed of the same material as that of the optical fibers 1 thru 4 such as of quartz or the like and a medium 8 of approximately the same refractive index as that of the optical fibers 1 thru 4, such as ethyl cyanoacrylate or the like for preventing total reflection is filled in the right-angled triangle form space 7 formed between the end faces of the optical fibers 2 thru 4, the groove 6 and the gaps between the optical fibers 1 thru 4. Thereby, light is bisected and projected in the first specified direction and the light having returned is bisected and projected in the second specified direction with the simple structure.
