Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a double-bottom structure for ship, which is formed by arranging oil- and water-tight corrugated thin steel plate over the ship-bottom plating of underwater ship holds with a required spacing from each other, and filling foaming urethane in the space formed between said corrugated thin steel plate and ship-bottom plating, whereby it is enabled to considerably reduce the weight of steels used in manufacturing the ship.
CONSTITUTION: In a ship the bottom of which is constructed in a single-bottom structure by side plating 1, ship-bottom plating 2, longitudinal oil-tight bulkhead 4, transversal side beam 5, solid rib plate 7 and longitudinal ship-bottom ribs 8; double-bottom plate 3 made of oil- and water-tight corrugated thin steel plate is stretched over the bottom plating 2 at the bottom of ship holds with a given spacing therefrom. Soft urethane 15 is poured, foamed and filled in the space formed between the ship-bottom plating 2 and double-bottom plate 3. Further, hard urethane 16 is filled in the vicinity of the longitudinal bulkhead 4, center girder plate 10 and solid rib plate 7 for supporting the steel plate 3. With such an arrangement, if ship-bottom plating 2 is damaged due to standing or other reason, ship body can be protected from intrusion of sea water by the function of double-bottom plate 3 and soft urethane 15.
