Abstract
PURPOSE: To purify a crude isoindorinon pigment with ease and to obtain the title pigment having high purity, chroma, and clarity, improved light weather, and chemical resistance, and adding an alkali metallic alcoholate to the crude pigment dispersed into an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, followed by hydrolyzing the dispersion.
CONSTITUTION: A crude isoidorinon pigment shown by the formula I (R is formula II or III) is dispersed into an aromatic by hydrocarbon solvent, e.g., monochlorobenzene. An alkaline (earth) metallic alcoholate (e.g., sodium methoxide) or its hydroxide and an alcohol or its mixture with water are added to the resulting dispersion to form an alkali salt of the pigment, which is separated and hydrolyzed with water of an acid, and, if necessary, in the presence of a dispersant, to give the desired purified pigment. The alcohol is preferably is 1W2C low-grade ahcohol in an amount 0.1W0.5 parts by wt. based on 1 parts by wt. of the pigment.
EFFECT: Purification is carried out directly without separation of a crude pigment.
