Abstract

PURPOSE: To develope a xerographic image with the use of a simple method of wet type without requiring a special doner element by applying an O/W type emulsion developing agent to an electrostatic latent image through a special sheet.
CONSTITUTION: An electrostatic latent image 3 is formed by a normal method upon a photosensitive layer 2 which is formed on a conductive layer 1. A sheet 4 of such a porous ethylene tetrafluoride polymer having a property permeable to oil but not to water is placed on the photosensitive layer 2. An O/W type emulsion developing agent 5 of the type, in which an coil component such as hydrocarbons of fat group is dispersed in water 6, is applied to the sheet 4. In case there is no charge on the photosensitive element 2, the developing agent 5 is of aqueous type so that it can not pass through the nets of the sheet 4. In case, on the other hand, there are charges on the photosensitive element 2, the coil component 7 in the developing agent 5 can move in the water 6 to approach the surface of the element 2 so that it passes through the sheet 5 to wet the surface of the latent image 3 thereby to develop the same 3.
