Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to effect the optical beam scanning operation having longitudinal extension by providing compensating means using an oval mirror to make uniform the optical beam scanning operation on a straight line on a scanning plane. CONSTITUTION:If an oval mirror 5 which is arranged to have its longer axis in parallel with a scanning plane 4 is used, the normal line n at each point on the reflecting plane 5a of the oval mirror 5 is inclined the steeper as it approaches the more from the center point 0 to the both ends A and A' so that the optical beam scanning speed on the straight plane in the scanning plane 4 and the distance from a rotary mirror 1 to a scanning point are made the same to make it possible to accomplish the optical beam scanning operations having a longitudial extension. Thus, it is possible to effect the sufficient compensation by selecting the distance between the rotary mirror 1 and the oval mirror 5 at its oval longer axis, the size (shape and size) of the oval mirror 5 and the position of the scanning plane 4.
