Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title masterbatch, essentially without lowering the effect of the flame retardant, by compounding a plastic with a solid flame retardant in the presence of an organic substance which is liquid or semi-solid at room temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A composition obtained by kneading (A) 100 parts by weight of a rubber or a plastic, (B) ≥20 parts by weight, pref. 20W150 parts of an organic substance which is liquid or semi-solid at room temperature, having a molecular weight of ≥150, and a penetration of the needle of ≥20 (e.g. α-olefin oligomer, etc.) and (C) ≥300 parts by weight of a powdery solid flame retardant (e.g. bromodiphenyl, etc.) having a particle size of ≥50μ, pref. ≥100μ.
EFFECT: Production of a flame-retardant 4-methylpentene-1 polymer composition.
