Abstract
PURPOSE: To minimize a bend and a bending load to components of the core of a high speed breeder reactor by constituting the reactor such that the thickness of a wall of a salpinx is varied at different positions of the components of the core disposed within the core.
CONSTITUTION: Components of the core of a high speed breeder reactor includes a salpinx 1 having either fuel elements or neutron absorbing members inside, pads 2 provided on the surface of the salpinx 1, and an entrance nozzle 3 provided at one end thereof. A salpinx for a blanket fuel assembly or a neutron shielding member has a wall of smaller thickness than the salpinx for the fuel assembly in the reactor core. Thus, according to the reactor core in which a salpinx having a wall of varied thickness is employed, a bend and a bending load thereto are extremely reduced compared with a reactor core in which a salpinx having a wall of uniform thickness is employed.
