Abstract
PURPOSE: To satisfy sealing strength, airtight power and the evenness of the inter- substrate spacing sufficiently and achieve and thinner spacing between both substrates without impairing mass productivity by specifying the sealing width of sealing members composed of low melting point sealing glass.
CONSTITUTION: Low melting point sealing glass 10 is screen-printed at a printing width W of 0.2 to 0.4 mm in the respective opposing positions of an upper substrate 1 and a lower substrate 2. The sectional shape of the glass 10 assumes convex form from the causes such as of the surface tension and drying speed of the paste and the release characteristic of the paste from the screen, thus virtually no cavities are produced in the sealed part after sealing and coupling of both substrates. Even more, the thickness H decreases on account of leveling effect or the like after the screen printing of the low malting point sealing paste and the spacing after the sealing and coupling of the substrates 1, 2 becomes smaller. The width L of the glass 10 after temporarily firing is the same as the width W and does not increase.
