Abstract

PURPOSE: To dispose of water with chlorine, caustic soda and sodium hypochlorite, by diaphragm-electrolyzing an aqueous solution of sodium chloride to produce the chlorine, the caustic soda and the sodium hypochlorite at a demanding place.
CONSTITUTION: The aqueous solution of sodium chloride is supplied from a vessel 7 to an anode chamber 3 of an electrolyzer 1 divided by a cation exchange film 2 into the anode chamber 3 and a cathode chamber 4. A part of the produced chlorine gas is used as a water treating agent A and the other part is supplied to a reaction unit 9 to make the sodium hypochlorite. The caustic sode produced in the cathode chamber is supplied to a vessel 8. One part of the caustic soda is used as a water treating agent C and another part is transferred to a vessel 10 and supplied therefrom to the reaction unit 9 to make the sodium hypochlorite. The sodium hypochlorite is used as a water treating agent B.
