CONSTITUTION:A protecting sleeve 1 which is formed in tubular form with ultravoilet ray transmittable material such as glass is beforehand inserted onto either of both optical fibers F, F. After the exposed connecting ends Fa, Fa of the fibers F, F are thermally fused, the sleeve 1 is moved to this fused part 3 and the both ends thereof are fitted into the secondary covering parts Fb, Fb being the non-exposed portions of the fibers F, F. Next, ultraviolet-curing type coating 4 is filled in the sleeve 1 through the small hole 2 provided on the outside circumference of the sleeve, after which it is radiated with ultraviolet rays. The coating 4 cures thereby integrally connecting the respective parts of the sleeve 1 and fibers F, F.
