Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the yield of the blooming, by processing as follows; the steel ingot is charged into the soaking pit while the riser and a part of main body of the killed steel in the mold are at the unsolidified state, and after the surface of the ingot is fast heated at a specified speed of temperature rise, the ingot is dragged out at a limited condition, and then, the bottom rolling is carried out at a strong reduction in the latter half of the rolling pass schedule. CONSTITUTION:The rapping is carried out at the time t1', when the riser and a part of main body of the killed steel in the mold 1 on the bed plate 3 are at the unsolidified state 4, and the ingot is charged into the soaking pit at the time t2'. Then, the surface of steel ingot is fast heated at the speed of temperature rise 200- 500 deg.C/H, and the ingot is dragged out at the condition that the central zone of ingot is completely solidified and the internal temperature is more than 150 deg.C higher than the surface temperature (the time t3'-t4'). After that, while the blooming is carried out, the bottom rolling is performed at a strong rolling reduction in the latter half of the rolling pass schedule. Hereby, the degree of penetration of rolling reduction into the central zone of the steel ingot is improved, so that the strethch at the central zone becomes larger, and the cut-off percentage of the top of the steel ingot is reduced as compared with the conventional method.
