Abstract

PURPOSE:To record information signals in high density with a simple constitution by using two sets of magnetic head assemblies of special constitution and performing recording of azimuth system in the state wherein tracking controlling is being applied. CONSTITUTION:The recording-playback head 25a or 26b or tracking head 27a or 27b in two sets of magnetic head assemblies are so constituted that the spacings between the centers of the magnetic gaps of the respective heads are away by the integer times of track pitch in the width direction of the recording tracks. The recording-playback heads are so disposed that the recording-playback heads wherein the head 26a or 26b and head 27a or 27b belong to the same magnetic head set as thereof can stride over a plurality of tracks including the tracks that said heads have drawn on a magnetic head 2. Thereby, tracking controlling opration is well accomplished not only at the reproducing but at the recording as well. Hence, the information signals may be recorded in high density by the azimuth recording system wherein the arrows X and Y are let to be the running direction of the tape 2 and the advancing direction of the magnetic head sets with the simple constitution.
