Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a coated electrode the work efficiency of which in welding is enhanced by using a coating material contg. a specific amt. of rutile of a specific grain size constiution and a specific amt. of CaCO3 and/or dolomite of such a constitution.
CONSTITUTION: The coating material contains 5W60 wt% of rutile more than 60% of which has a grain size constitution of 74W149 μ and 5W30 wt% of CaCO3 and/or dolomite 30W80% which has a grain size constitution of 74W250 μ, or further contains 5W30 wt% of potash feldspar 30W80% of which has a grain size constitution of below 74 μ and/or 5W40 wt% of iron powder more than 60% of which has a grain size constitution of below 74 μ.
EFFECT: A coated electrode obtd. by kneading this coating material with a binder and coating the outside of a core wire with the kneaded material has very good performance esp. in respect of its molten state and the state (stability) of arc.
