PURPOSE: To prepare high purity adipic acid easily in high yield from an acid mixture consisting of glutaric acid, succinic acid and adipic acid, by treating urea adduct of said acid mixture with an alicyclic ether, thereby selectively decomposing the urea adduct of adipic acid.
