Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a properly saddle stitched printed matter even when leaf printed papers by different printing methods are used by a method wherein every time required leaf printing papers are stacked, a saddle stitching needle is pierced, and after all the leaf printed papers are penetrated, the tip end of the saddle stitching needle is bent. SOLUTION: For example, leaf paper saddle stitched printed matter is a booklet such as a catalogue, and a plurality of leaf printed papers A, B, C of different sizes are positioned with their pictures as references and bound by a saddle stitching needle 4, and are folded at a folding location at the center, and the booklet is made by performing a finish cutting after the folding. That is, a positioning member 20, a vertical moving plate 22b and a holding member 23 perform the motions under each paper feeding unit, and on the vertical moving plate 22b, leaf printed papers A-B are laminated while being pierced by the saddle stitching needle 4 in order. In the last stage, the tip end of the saddle stitching needle 4 which sticks out from the top of the leaf printed papers A-B is bent onto both surfaces of the papers, and thus, the leaf printed papers are bound at the center 11 in the lateral direction by the saddle stitching needle 4.

In the case of producing personal prints, it is conceivable to combine outputs from a plurality of types of printing presses in view of cost and the like. It is difficult to bind this with a conventional automatic collating machine or automatic bookbinding machine.
The reason is as follows.

[0004] When collating sheet-fed papers, each sheet is discharged and stacked so that one corner thereof is aligned with a corner of a jogger or the like in a collating machine. When such collating is performed on the printing paper, the center is shifted between the sheet-fed printing papers, so that the wire binding becomes difficult. If you want to collate sheets of different sizes, you need to cut the other sheets to match the size of the smallest sheet and then put it on a collating machine. . However, such cutting is not preferable in terms of productivity.
