Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stability in mounting by manufacturing a molded body by resin molding a coil whereupon a rectangular copper wire is vertically wound by using polymeric resin composition and providing a recessed part on the molded body for fitting the terminal of the coil. SOLUTION: A vertically wound coil whereupon a rectangular copper wire is vertically wound and a supporting fixture 4 having a U-shaped cross section are resin-molded at the same time by using epoxy resin so as to manufacture a molded body 1. The supporting fixture 4 is molded so as to have its side of the U shape contact the bottom plane of the molded body 1. The molded body 1 is provided with a core mounting hole 7 and a core fitting groove 8. On the bottom plane of the molded body 1, recessed parts 2 and protruding parts 3 are provided. Then, the terminal of the vertically wound coil is bent a long the surface of the molded body 1, the leading edge of the terminal is fitted in the recessed part 2 and pressed between the protruding parts 3, and a terminal part 6 is provided. Then, a magnetic core is incorporated in the molded body 1 and the molded body is mounted on a printed board as an inductor.

2. Description of the Related Art A so-called vertical winding coil in which a long side of a rectangular conducting wire (a copper wire or an aluminum wire coated with insulation) having a rectangular cross section is wound so as to be perpendicular to a winding axis, is called a space factor of the coil. Therefore, it is used for transformers and inductors used at high frequencies because of its high stability and small stray capacitance.
