削加工への適用を示唆するものである。また、超硬に被
覆を施した工具との比較では実加工時間を1/7以下に
短縮できたと記載されている。更に、CBN焼結体は工
具材料として汎用性の高い超硬合金に比べて、一層硬さ
が高く、高硬度材切削用途に適当とされるが、きわめて
高い硬さをもつものの比較的もろい性質を示し、とくに
バインダー量の少ないものほど顕著である。また、材料
の寸法形状に制限があるうえ、被加工性が悪くて工具形
状を自由に得られないため、通常のボールエンドミルは
加工しにくく、使用上においても断続切削となるため、
切削中にチッピングを生じやすいため微小切削の仕上げ
用など限られた用途にしか利用できないものであった。2.
