型ホログラムシート8は、スクリーン4の背面4aに接
触させたり、スクリーン4と一体化して形成してもよ

あおり補正を行う。ここでは投影機7は、あおり補正機
能を有しており光反射型ホログラムシ−ト9の表面9a
に対する射出光2の入射角を大きくとることが出来、装

型ホログラムシート9)は、図3に示した従来の背面投
射型投影装置のミラ−3に比較して非常に薄く、軽量で
ある。また、このホログラムシートの代わりに、小型の
プリズムを多数組み込んだプリズムアレイを使用すると
いう方法も考えられるが、プリズムアレイだとモワレが
発生したり、小型プリズムのつなぎ目もしくは折り返し
部分で縞状の輝度ムラが発生する。これに対し、ホログ
ラムシ−トを使用した本発明の背面投射型投影装置で
は、モワレや縞状輝度ムラが発生せず、歪のない自然な
映像を映し出すことが出来る。また、このホログラムシ
ートはフレネルレンズ効果を合わせもつものとしてもよ
く、例えば投影機7からの射出光の広がりを小さくする
ことができる。更に、背面投射型投影装置の筐体内での
光路は、上記実施例に限らず、例えば投影機とホログラ
ムシートとの間に小さいミラー等を用いて様々に構成す
ることができ、筐体の奥行き寸法の小さい装置でも筐体
内のスペースを有効に使用して光路長を長く構成すれば
