後、工事を再開して鋼管路を接続する際には鋼管の側面
の管胴部を溶断する。この際は溶断した面を開先加工し
てから鋼管路敷設工事を続行する。他のひとつはヘキサ
プラグである。ヘキサプラグを管端面に取り付けた状況
を第8図に示す。ヘキサプラグは押さえ板31と盲板3
2との2枚の厚鋼板製の円板が管内径より僅かに直径が
小さいゴムリングによって全周にわたって繋がってい
る。押さえ板31の直径は管外径より僅かに大きい。ヘ
キサプラグを管端面に取り付ける作業は、まず盲板32
を管内径に挿入し、押さえ板31が管端面の全面に接す
るまで押し付ける。その後押さえ板31に取り付けられ
た蝶ネジナット33を、締め付ける。この蝶ネジナット
操作33により盲板32を押さえ板31の側に引き寄せ

ランジ蓋2の鋼製円板6には開口部を2箇所有して、そ
れぞれの開口部を板状体7,8により閉塞する。このよ
うな鋼製円板6は第3図に示すように、鋼管1に溶接に
より取り付けられる。鋼製円板6の開口部の構造は、鋼
製円板6の開口の周辺に円筒状のコウミングと呼ぶ縁板
10が溶接され、このコウミングと呼ぶ縁板10の端面
にフランジ11が溶接されているものである。開口部を
閉塞する板状体7及び8とフランジ11とはボルト・ナ
ット9によってゴムパッキン12を介して締付ける事に
より気密構造となっているので、水、土砂等が管内に侵
入することを防いでいる。一旦埋戻した後、工事を再開
する際にはボルト・ナット9を緩めて取り外すことによ
り、開口部を閉塞する板状体7及び8をフランジ11か
ら取り外して、開口部を開く、仮フランジ蓋2を溶断す
る前に、この2つの開口部より自然換気または強制換気
により、引火性のガスを管内から排出する。その後に仮
フランジ蓋2を溶断するので管内の引火性のガスが爆発
する危険性は無くなる。
