Description
Claims (11)
- 1.一方の端(352)が閉ヒ、その閉じた端部(352)を通って延びる膨張 ガスを受け入れるための充填手段(360)を含んでおり、もう一方の端部(2 8′)が開いている中空の円筒形スリーブ(22′)と、前記スリーブとで判定 可能な圧力で膨張ガスを貯える圧力容器(20)を構成し、圧力容器の一部をな す破壊可能なディスク(310)から成る脆い部材によって密閉されたマニホル ド開口部(308)を有し、さらに、圧力容器(20)からの膨張ガスの決れを 制御するためのフロー制御手段(320)を有する、前記スリーブ(22′)内 に一部が引っ込んでおり、そのスリーブの反対側の端部に固定された、中空のマ ニホルド・アセンブリ(304)から成るスリーブ(22′)を密閉するための 発生器ハウジング・アセンブリ(80′)と、で構成され、 前記発生器ハウジング・アセンブリ(80′)が、マニホルド・アセンブリ(3 04)に入り込んで、これに固定された中空の発生器ハウジング(82)と、そ の発生器ハウジング(82)内に納められたある量の推進剤(100)と、作動 すると、前記推進剤の燃焼を開始するピロテクニック・アクチュエータ手段(1 10)とを有し、マニホルド・アセンブリは、貯えられているガスを、差し障り なく、溶接箇所まで移動させることができるようにスリーブに溶接されていると いうことを特徴とする、 エア・クッション用インフレータ(350)。
- 2.前記発生器ハウジング・アセンブリは、マニホルド・アセンブリの開放端部 に入り込む中空の発生器ハウジングと、第1のハウジング端部が、マニホルド・ アセンブリの開放端部に近接して固定きれ、第2のハウジング端部が、ほぼマニ ホルドの開口部と一列になった少なくとも1つの開口部を有する第1のハウジン グ端部及び第2のハウジング端部とを有しており、さらに、発生器ハウジング・ アセンブリ(80)には、第2のハウジングの端部(86)に近接して配置され た複数のトラッブ開口部(96)を備えた微粒子トラッブ(94)と、ある量の 成形推進剤(100)、及び、推進剤(100)にバイアスをかけて、微粒子ト ラッブに送り込む弾性部材(102)と、弾性部材(102)から間隔をあけて 配置きれ、作動すると、推進剤(100)の燃焼を開始させるピロテクニック・ アクチュエータ手段(110)が含まれていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載 のインフレータ(350)。
- 3.スリーブ(22′)の閉じた端部(352)が内側にへこんでいて、インフ レータが、さらに、閉じた端部(352)と一致した形状で、スリーブをディフ ューザ(130)に固定するための固定手段(356)を含んでいることを特徴 とする請求項2に記載のインフレータ(350)。
- 4.アクチュエータには、推進剤(100)から間隔をあけて配置され、これに 面した末広ノズル(108)が含まれていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の インフレータ(350)。
- 5.アクチュエータ手段(110)に、末広ノズル(108)における推進剤の 燃焼を急速に開始きせる点火増進手段(109)が含まれていることを特徴とす る請求項4に記載のインフレータ(350)。
- 6.アクチュエータ手段が、発生器ハウリング・アセンブリ(82)内に取り外 し可能に収容されていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載のインフレータ(35 0)。
- 7.第1のハウジング端部(85)に、圧力容器(20)をディフューザ(13 0)を取り付けるための取り付け手段が含まれていることを特徴とする請求項2 に記載のインフレータ(350)。
- 8.ディフユーザ(130)が、流量制御手段(320)と通じており、圧力容 器(20)を支持し、膨張ガスをエア・クッション(202)に送り込み、ディ フューザには、圧力容器(20)の下方部分を支持するようになっている下方部 分(180)が含まれており、さらにディフューザには、圧力容器(20)の上 方部分にかみ合うようになっている上方部分(182)が含まれていて、その上 方部分(182)は、膨張ガスが流れることができるようにする複数の開口部( 200)を備えてもり、圧力容器と共に、圧力容器(20)の上方部分に近接し た2つの容積領域(183a、b)を形成し、膨張ガスの乱流を減少させ、膨張 ガスとディフューザ(130)との熱伝導を抑える手段が得られるようにするこ とを特徴とする請求項7に記載のインフレータ(350)。
- 9.ディフューザ(130)には、エンド・キャップ(132、134)が含ま れ、一方のキャップ(132)は、アクチュエータ・ハウジング・アセンブリ( 30)に取り付けられ、もう一方のキャップ(134)は、発生器ハウジングア センブリ(80)に取り付けられて、ディフューザ(130)の主要部分140 のそれぞれの端部を密閉するようになっていることを特徴とする請求項8に記載 のインフレータ(350)。
- 10.ディフューザ(130)が、それから延びる複数のボルト(204)のよ うな取り付け手段(204)を備え、エア・バッグを収容し、ディフューザを車 体の支持構造に直接取り付ける手段を形成することを特徴とする請求項9に記載 のインフレータ(350)。
- 11.発生器ハウジングの端部(86)における少なくとも1つの開口部(88 、92)にスクリーン(312)が配置され、マニホルド・アセンブリ(304 )の一部とかみ合うことを特徴とする請求項10に記載のインフレータ(350 )。
