Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a connector having a sufficient spring stroke, generating no looseness with respect to a circuit substrate, and provided with a leg piece capable of functioning as a ground terminal. CONSTITUTION:A connector 1 consists of a metallic case 3, signal terminal 8, and resin housing 9. Both ends of the metallic case 3 are integrally provided with a pair of leg pieces 6 respectively. This leg piece 6 is provided with a curved part 6a having a spring property and a return prevention protrusion 6b. A tip of the leg piece 6 is press-fitted against spring force of the curved part 6a into a connector fitting through hole provided in a circuit substrate to be projected in rear of the circuit substrate. Then, the return prevention protrusion 6b is press-contacted and engaged with a through hole edge part on the rear face of the circuit substrate by restoring force of the curved part 6a. Consequently, the connector 1 is tentatively fixed to the circuit substrate with sufficient strength.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, various connectors having leg pieces for press-fitting into a mounting hole of a circuit board are known (see Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 2-4470 and Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 2-18527). These connectors are temporarily fixed to the circuit board using the leg pieces before being soldered to the circuit board. However, the conventional connector has the following problems.

(1) Generally, since the connector is small in size, the spring stroke of the leg piece cannot be sufficiently taken and a good spring force cannot be obtained. (2) In the case of a connector provided with a metal case that functions as a ground terminal, it is desirable to use the leg piece as a ground terminal to the circuit board side. To do this, it is necessary to use a metal screw or the like separately.

【0004】(3)回路基板やコネクタの寸法許容差の

(3) If the thickness of the circuit board is thin or the leg pieces are long due to the dimensional tolerances of the circuit board and the connector, a gap is formed between the return prevention protrusion provided on the leg pieces and the back surface of the circuit board. There is a concern that rattling may occur between the circuit board and the connector. Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a connector provided with a leg that has a sufficient spring stroke, does not cause rattling with a circuit board, and can also function as a ground terminal. is there.

With the above structure, the tip of the leg piece integrally provided in the metal case is press-fitted into the mounting hole provided in the circuit board or the like against the spring force of the bending portion having the spring property. It sticks out on the back side of the circuit board. After that, due to the restoring force of the curved portion, the return preventing projection is pressed against and engaged with the edge portion of the mounting hole on the back side of the circuit board, and the connector is mounted on the circuit board with sufficient strength. Therefore, the connector is temporarily fixed to the circuit board without rattling from the time of attachment to the time of soldering.

A pair of leg pieces 6 are integrally provided on both ends of the metal case 3, respectively. This leg piece 6 is provided with a bending portion 6a having a spring property and a return preventing projection 6b. The curved portion 6a has a good spring force and has a sufficient spring stroke. Further, the metal case 3 has the leg pieces 6.
There are fall prevention pieces 11 for preventing the connector 1 from tipping over on both sides. Each signal terminal 8 is supported by a resin housing 9 in an electrically insulated state. The signal terminal 8 is led out in the horizontal direction from the resin housing 9 and is bent into a substantially L-shape so that its tip portion is It is routed vertically downward.

Next, an example of using the connector 1 having the above structure will be described with reference to FIGS. 2 and 3. 2 and 3
3A and 3B are a side view and a partial rear view showing a state in which the connector 1 is temporarily fixed to the circuit board 20, respectively. The signal through holes 23 are provided in the circuit board 20 at the tips of the signal terminals 8.
And the pair of leg pieces 6 are press-fitted into the connector mounting through holes 21 provided in the circuit board 20. The through hole 21 is electrically connected to the ground electrode of the circuit board 20. The tip ends of the leg pieces 6 are press-fitted into the through holes 21 against the spring force of the curved portion 6a and protruded to the back side of the circuit board 20. Thereafter, due to the restoring force of the curved portion 6a, the slope of the upper shoulder of the return preventing protrusion 6b is changed to the through hole 2 on the rear surface of the circuit board 20.
The edge of 1 is pressed and engaged. In this way, the connector 1 is attached to the circuit board 20 with sufficient strength.
