Abstract

PURPOSE:To set papers smoothly by rack sections, which are protruding downward from a side guide and an end guide, respectively, causing the side guide and the end guide to make lateral and vertical link motions conforming to the paper size in connection with a pinion provided on the back of a paper tray. CONSTITUTION:A side guide 3 and an end guide 4, which are provided on a paper tray 2 located inside a paper feeder cassette body 1, move movable slits 5, 6, respectively. Sections protruding downward from the side guide 3 and the end guide 4 form racks 7, 8 which are engaged with a pinion (or a cam) 9. When the side guide 3 is moved in the arrow A direction, the rack 7 moves to the right causing the pinion to rotate in the arrow B direction. Simultaneously, the rack 8 slides toward arrow C direction by virtue of the pinion 9 rotating and stops in the position of the desired paler size.
