Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect an error insertion of an IC card to positively prevent the breakage of the IC card and a circuit by a method wherein a conductor is provided within the IC card, a signal is transmitted to the conductor part by an IC card reader/writer, and whether the conductor part is electrically conducted is detected. CONSTITUTION:When an IC card 1 provided with a conductor 2 therein is inserted to an insertion part 3 of an IC card reader/writer, the insertion part 3 informs a detection part 4 of the setting of the IC card 1. The detection part 4 passes an electric current to the conductor part 2 of the IC card 1, detects whether the conductor part 2 is electrically conducted, and informs a control part 5 of the detection result. The control part 5 judges whether the insertion state of the IC card 1 is normal. At the time of judging the normal state, an access to the IC card is started, and data is read/written on the IC card 1.
