Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic, containing an extract of Litchi chinensis Sonnerat as an active ingredient, excellent in beautifying and whitening action on the skin and capable of preventing the skin from roughening by humectant effects and holding moistness. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic is prepared by including an extract of Litchi chinensis Sonnerat which is a plant, belonging to the genus Litchi, the family Sapindaceae, the order Sapindales, the subclass Archichlamydeae of the class Dicotyledoneae and cultivated in the southern and of China and the southern area of Kyushu Island, Japan and further suitably blending oils, surfactants, medicines, etc., normally used in the cosmetic. The extraction of the Litchi chinensis Sonnerat is carried out by extracting a fruit of the Litchi chinensis Sonnerat with a water-soluble organic solvent (e.g. ethanol) and, as necessary, adding water.
