Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily change the reading/writing range of a magnetic disk even after fixing shock absorbers by forming each cushioning material like an elliptical cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Cushioning materials 14a, 14b formed by an elastic material such as rubber like elliptical cylinders are used for shock absorbers 70a, 70b. Since the floating height of the magnetic head 3 is high when the head 3 is positioned on the outermost periphery, a coil 6 is allowed to come contact with the minor axis side of the material 14a which has weak cushioning force, so that even when the floating posture of the head 3 becomes unstable, the magnetic disk is not influenced. When the head 3 is positioned on the innermost periphery, the posture of the material 14b is set up so that the major axis side of the coil 6 having strong cushioning force comes into contact with the material 14b to prevent the floating posture from being unstabilized. Thus, the reading/writing range of the disk can be changed by changing the positions of the shock absorbers 70a, 70b.

At this time, a buffer device 70c is provided for the innermost circumference and a buffer device 70d is provided for the outermost circumference to prevent the magnetic head 3 from coming off the recording surface of the magnetic disk 1 due to runaway of the circuit system or the like. During runaway, the coil 6 comes into contact with the buffer devices 70c and 70d to prevent the magnetic head 3 from coming off the recording surface of the magnetic disk 1.

Note that when the magnetic head 3 is located at the outermost circumference (solid line part), the flying height of the magnetic head 3 is large, so the coil 6
makes contact with the short axis side of the buffer material 14a where the buffering force is weak, and even if the flying posture becomes unstable, it will not affect the magnetic disk.
However, when the magnetic head 3 is located at the innermost circumference (dotted line), the flying height of the magnetic head 3 is small, so the coil 6 is placed on the buffer material 14.
In order to prevent the floating posture from becoming unstable even if it comes into contact with Mf, the long-sleeved side of the cushioning material 14b has a strong buffering force.
The attitude of the ll material 14b is set.
