Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a light-weight prepreg capable of being shaped by a simple shaping means by removing the excess resin component of a mat excessively supplied with a UV curing resin component and covering the mat with a sheet- shaped article such as a film, paper, etc. CONSTITUTION:A mat 1 composed of rolled glass fibers having a high void is dipped in a UV curing resin component 3 introduced into a tank 2. The mat 1 is passed between pinch rolls 4, 4, and the excess resin component 3 is removed. Consequently, a mat 1, in which the resin component 3 is attached to the peripheries and crossed sections of the fibers of the mat 1 consisting of glass fibers and which has the high void, is manufactured. Sheet-shaped articles 5, 5 such as a film, paper, etc., are attached on both the surface and the rear of the mat 1 and wound, thus manufacturing a prepreg 6. Accordingly, the prepreg 6 manufactured can be shaped by a simple shaping means such as vacuum molding, simple press molding or the like, and irradiated by a UV lamp under the shaped state, thus curing the prepreg 6 in a short time.

In the manufacturing method disclosed in JP-A-1-314769, a mat-like material made of inorganic fibers and a thermoplastic resin is heated and compressed with a roll or the like through an endless belt, and at the exit of the mat-like material, the endless belt is coated with a mat-like material. This involves depressurizing the adhesive, increasing the thickness, and then cooling and peeling it off.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) However, the prepreg obtained by the manufacturing method disclosed in JP-A-1314769 has poor heat resistance because it uses a thermoplastic resin, and for example, it is difficult to mold this prepreg as a ceiling material. As a material, there is a demand for prepreg that can be shaped easily and at low cost.

(Means for Solving the Problems) In order to solve the above problems, the present invention supplies a mat made of inorganic fibers with a high porosity with an excessive amount of an ultraviolet curable resin component, and passes this mat through a squeezing roll. After removing the excess resin component, the mat was covered with a sheet-like material such as film or paper on either the front or back surface.
