Although it is common, water-cooled engines have recently been adopted as scooter-type motorcycles have become more powerful. The scooter-type motorcycles described in JP-A-58-149873 and JP-A-59-48279 are examples equipped with a water-cooled engine, and are formed by a cover member (leg shield) at the front of the vehicle body. A radiator is housed inside the drawing room. That is, the cover member is formed of a front cover located in front of the head pipe and a rear cover standing up from the footrest and located behind the head pipe. is installed.

う不都合がある。 Conventionally proposed scooter-type motorcycles have a structure in which an opening (air intake) for supplying running air to the radiator is provided in the front cover, and hot air after heat exchange is discharged toward the bottom of the footrest. The reason for this is that the exhaust port with a switching valve installed at the bottom of the rear cover opens the cold air and directs the hot air to the passengers' feet, but the air flow in the passenger compartment is not horizontal. Since the air changes its direction significantly downward and moves against the natural convection phenomenon (heated air originally flows upward), it has the disadvantage that smooth ventilation is not always achieved.

The driver comes in contact with the heated air that comes out of the air outlet, and the hot air heats the feet, which causes the driver to feel extremely uncomfortable, especially in the summer.

The present invention relates to an improvement of a scooter-type motorcycle that overcomes these difficulties.
A rear cover whose left and right widths are approximately equal to that of the footrest; and a front surface which abuts along the left and right and side pieces of the rear cover, and whose center portion in the left and right width direction bulges forward to cover the head pipe. In a scooter-type motorcycle equipped with a front cover member consisting of a cover, the rear cover is formed with a storage recess whose center portion in the left and right width direction is recessed forward, and the storage recess and the storage recess are sealed so as to be openable and closable. An opening/closing lid constitutes a storage section, and an air intake port for the radiator located in the bulge of the front cover and located in front of the head pipe is formed in the front cover, and an air intake port is formed in the front cover and extends toward the outside of the footrest. It is characterized in that exhaust ports for discharging hot air from the radiator are formed on both left and right outer sides of the storage recess and in front of the opening/closing lid.

ができる。 The front ventilation structure of the scooter-type motorcycle of the present invention includes a front cover whose center portion in the left and right width direction bulges forward to cover the head pipe, and a storage recess formed by the center portion in the left and right width direction recessed forward. A radiator is disposed in a compartment defined by a rear cover having a Since it is formed at a location located on both the left and right outer sides of the storage compartment recess and in front of the opening/closing lid, the traveling wind that enters the compartment from the air intake port passes through the radiator section and exchanges heat, The air gradually spreads from side to side without abruptly changing direction, and is discharged into the atmosphere from the air outlet without hitting the driver, thereby avoiding driver discomfort, especially the feeling of heat in the summer, and allowing comfortable driving. can.

work together to form a compartment 42, within which a radiator 46 is housed. The radiator 46 is supported by the head pipe 14 via a stay 48. Further, an air intake port (louver) 38 for guiding the running wind to the radiator 46 is provided in the bulge of the upper front cover 36, and at the height level of the radiator 46, the left side of the rear cover 26,
There is an exhaust port 2 on the right side for discharging hot air in the compartment 42.

The air passes between the heat dissipation fins, spreads gently to both sides without heading downward, passes through the air outlet 28, and is emitted outward from the footrest plate 18 by the action of the deflection plate 31 of the louver 30. In this way, the air flow within the compartment 42 does not go against the upward movement of the hot air, but instead changes direction gently and spreads to the left and right, so the air resistance within the compartment 42 is small.
Ventilation is extremely good. Therefore, heat dissipation from the radiator 46 is promoted, and it is possible to cope with larger engine displacement and higher output.

Along with this, the air intake port 38
Outside air is introduced into the compartment 42 through the radiator 46 and other gaps, and the heat from the radiator 46 is effectively radiated. Of course, if a forced cooling fan 50 is disposed between the radiator 46 and the head pipe 14 as shown by the two-dot chain line in FIGS. 1, 5, and 6,
Furthermore, heat dissipation is promoted.
