Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for disconnecting/throwing in a power source or operating an operation panel at every loading/unloading of an external memory by a method wherein a printing stop state is detected by an operation state check part, and the connection state of the external memory is detected every time when the printing stop state is continued for a fixed period of time. CONSTITUTION:A timer 5 is started, and the connection state of an external memory 2 is checked through an external memory connection circuit 3 every time when a printing stop state is continued for a fixed period of time. When the external memory 2 is connected, the type of the connected memory is judged by an external memory content check part 6. With the detection of an abnormality caused by the connection of an external memory 2 of a type unavailable for the printer or different from that of a memory that has been connected just before, the abnormality of the external memory 2 is indicated on a display part 7. エツクする。印字停止状態である時にはマイクロプロセ
ッサ回路1内のタイマ5が起動され、一定時間以−E印
字停止状態が続く毎に外部メモリ接続回路3を介して外
部メモリ2の接続状態をチエツクする。外部メモリ2が
接続されている時は、外部メモリ内容ヂエック部6によ
り接続されているメモリの種類の判定を行ない、そのプ
リンタて使用出来ないものが接続されたとき及び直前と
は異なる種類の外部メモリ2が接続されたことにより外
部メモリ2の異常チエツクを行い異常が検出されたとき
は、外部メモリ2の異常の表示を表示部7に行なう。外
部メモリ異常の時は印字を惇止し、非接続状態になった
時に外部メモリ2の異常を解除する。また、マイクロブ
ロセッザ回路1におけるタイマ5にて印字停止時間を計
測中に印字停止状態が解除されると、タイマ5のカウン
トを停止する。

は一時的に印字を停止するのみて初期化により状態を変
化させることなく、外部メモリの接続状態を検出できる
という効果がある。
