Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily transfer with a protective film layer on a surface to an arbitrary article by forming a fresh and rigid transfer image on an extremely thin transparent film, and sticking it to an article with the layer surface disposed inside. CONSTITUTION:An image layer is formed on a transfer having a water-soluble sheet as a base, the layer is stuck to an article, and the article is dipped in water to dissolve water-soluble base in the water, thereby transferring the layer to the article. As an image forming method to be used, any one of an electrophotographic method of fixing water-insoluble colorant on the paper base in a nonabsorption state, an electrostatic recording method, an ink jet method, a heat transferring method, etc., can be selected. If the base is coated as required according to the image forming method, if it is water-insoluble, it is transferred to the article integrally with the image layer. In order to stick the layer on the article, an arbitrary one which has high transparency or whiteness is selected by considering operability irrespective of the kind, adhesive or pressure-sensitive adhesive. As the water soluble-sheet, a sheet processed with carboxymethylcellulose is employed.

That is, a polyester film with a thickness of about 100 microns has been made matte by sandblasting or primer treatment, and a silicone resin is thinly coated on it to temporarily adhere the toner. This is a method in which the object to be transferred is bonded under heat and pressure with a binder sandwiched between them, and then the film is peeled off.

However, this method is very expensive because it uses a special film, it lacks sharpness because some of the toner remains on the film, and it requires high temperatures of about 170°C, so it is not suitable for transfer materials that do not have that tolerance. This method has problems such as being unusable and using a flat-pressure thermocompression bonding machine, making it unusable for three-dimensional objects.
