The present invention relates to golf club heads. In conventional iron-type golf club heads, the entire contact surface with the golf ball is made of metal (steel or stainless steel). This type of club head had a limit in increasing flight distance (hereinafter referred to as carry). Also, with the recent appearance of two-piece balls,
Although flight distance has increased further, the contact time with the club head is shorter than with conventional thread-wound balls, resulting in problems such as ``giving a hard feel'' and ``leaving the ball quickly.'' In particular, iron-type golf clubs require control over the direction and distance of the ball, and feel at impact is an important issue. The present invention was made in view of this point, and aims to increase the launch angle to increase the carry (flight distance), lengthen the contact time, and improve the controllability of the direction and distance of the two-piece ball. The purpose is also to improve the feel at the time of hitting. Therefore, the feature of the present invention is that the contact surface with the golf ball is formed of a constituent material made of an amorphous polymer having an elastic modulus of 0.3 to 5000 Kg/mm 2 . The present invention will be explained below based on illustrated embodiments. In FIGS. 1, 2, and 3, reference numeral 1 indicates the golf club head, and reference numeral 2 indicates the contact surface with the golf ball, which corresponds to the central portion of the face surface. The club head 1 includes a head body 3 made of general steel or stainless steel, and a component 5 with a low elastic modulus embedded in a recess 4 formed on the face side of the head body 3. It consists of. Specifically, a recessed part 4 is formed almost to the entire surface, leaving only the peripheral edge of the face surface, and the component 5 is fitted into this recessed part 4 and fixed with fixing tools 6 such as screws. Of course, it is also preferable to fix with an adhesive or to use the fixing tool 6 in combination with an adhesive. Therefore, as the component 5, synthetic resins, various composite materials, etc., which have a lower elastic modulus than steel (elastic modulus 21000 kg/mm 2 ), which is the material of conventional club heads, are used. Rate is 0.3~5000
Kg/ mm2 can be used. Particularly desirable are synthetic resins with an elastic modulus of 30 to 2000 kg/mm 2 , such as
These include ABS resin (elastic modulus 210 to 315 Kg/mm 2 ), ionomer resin, polycarbonate, etc. Moreover, the above-mentioned component 5 in the present invention always uses an amorphous polymer. Next, as in another embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the recessed portion 4 of the head body 3 is formed into a dovetail-shaped cross section with the inner side enlarged, and a component 5 is fitted into the recessed portion 4 in an embedded manner. This increases the adhesion strength to the main body 3. Also,
In FIG. 5, the entire face side of the head body 3,
A part or the whole of the peripheral surface is covered with the component 5, and the entire face surface is used as the component 5. In another embodiment shown in FIG. 6, the entire head 1 is made up of only the component 5 having the above-mentioned elastic modulus. Next, as a specific example of the present invention, ABS resin (elastic modulus 250 Kg/mm 2 ), ionomer resin (elastic modulus 30
Tables 1 and 2 show actual measurement results comparing the head 1 with a component 5 consisting of Kg/mm 2 ) installed on a part of the face as shown in Figures 2 and 3, and a conventional product. show. Table 1 shows the number 7 iron, Table 2 shows the number 9 iron, and a two-piece golf ball was used.

[Table] From Tables 1 and 2, the increase in launch angle and decrease in spin amount are significant, and the increase in carry is also obvious. Moreover, the component 5 made of ABS resin and ionomer resin increases the contact time when hitting the golf ball (assuming the contact time of the conventional product as 100).
105-130), it has become clear that the ball hitting feel is particularly improved, and the direction and distance of the ball can be controlled significantly more easily. As described in detail above, the present invention has the remarkable feature that the contact surface with the golf ball is made of a component with a small elastic modulus, and the contact time when hitting the ball is lengthened, the feel is improved, and the control performance can be improved. It has a great effect. Moreover, the amount of backspin is reduced, the launch angle is increased, and the carry (flight distance) can be significantly increased. In particular, by using an amorphous polymer, the contact time is further increased, the launch angle is increased, and the golf ball flies higher.
You can extend your flying distance.
