Prior Art and Problems Filtration devices for ornamental fish tanks include those that are installed underwater in the tank, those that are placed between the upper edges of both sides of the tank,
Various types of installation methods are known, such as those that are hung externally on the edge of the aquarium, but the above-mentioned externally hung type is particularly useful because it is extremely easy to attach and remove and can be used regardless of the size of the aquarium.

As shown in U.S. Pat. No. 4,512,885, etc., such an external type filtration device generally has an electric suction pump installed at the lower side of a box-shaped filtration tank located outside the aquarium. It has a structure in which a water suction pipe is installed and extends forward from this pump part in an inverted U shape, and when the suction pump is driven, water from the aquarium is introduced into the filtration tank through the water suction pipe, The filtered clear water is configured to flow back into the water tank from the overflow port of the filter tank.

However, in the case of the above-mentioned conventional external type filtration device, the entire water suction pipe must be filled with water in order to apply the suction force of the suction pump. This method had the drawback of requiring a very troublesome operation of filling the pipe with water in advance, holding the water so that it would not run away, and installing it in the aquarium.

Means for Solving the Problems This invention was made to solve the above-mentioned conventional problems, and there is no need to fill the water suction pipe with water before use, and simply drive the pump after installing it in the aquarium. To provide an external type filtration device in which water from an aquarium is automatically introduced into a filtration tank through a water suction pipe simply by turning the water on the tank.

Effect of the Invention When the filtration device of the present invention is installed, for example, by being hung externally on the edge of the lower tank, the enlarged diameter part of the lower part of the water suction pipe is immersed in water in the aquarium tank and is located below the water surface. The blade becomes immersed in water that has entered the water suction pipe. When the pump motor is driven to rotate the drive shaft, the radial vanes rotate together with the pump motor and act to discharge nearby water radially outward. The released water hits the inner circumferential surface of the enlarged diameter part and tries to spread upward and downward in a spiral shape along the inner circumferential surface, but on the upper side, it forms on the inner circumferential surface of the water suction pipe. The direction of the water flow is changed from the spiral shape to the direction of the tube axis by a plurality of rectifier plates along the tube axis direction, resulting in an upward flow. Therefore,
Sufficient water pumping force works within the water suction pipe to produce a pumping action, and water from the aquarium is automatically introduced into the filtration tank through the water suction pipe. In addition, since the upper part of the water suction pipe is narrower than the expanded diameter part where the radial blades are located,
Compared to the case where the entire diameter is the same, the weight of the water column at the upper part of the water suction pipe that is applied to the radial vanes during pump operation is reduced, and the pumping force is improved accordingly. From another point of view, this means that the horsepower of the pump motor required to obtain the required pumping power is reduced.
This makes it possible to downsize the motor.

When the filtration device having the above structure is used, the main body 1 is externally hung on the upper edge of the tank 10 with the locking part 11 fitting over it. As a result, the strainer 32 and the pumping pipe 3
1 is deeply inserted into the water in the aquarium, while the lower part of the water suction pipe 7 is immersed below the water surface, water flows into the inside through the water inlet 24b of the tube mouth member 24 and becomes at the same level as the outside. The radial impeller 23 in the enlarged diameter portion 7b is completely immersed in water. When the motor section 5 is driven here, the drive shaft 21
rotates, and the impeller 23 also rotates together with it, causing the pumping action as described above, and the water in the water tank 10 automatically flows from the water suction pipe 7 through the water conduit 19 to the water conduit 2.
0 into the inside of the filter 9 of the filtration tank 2. Thus, the introduced water passes through the filter 9, and the contained sediments and suspended matter are filtered and separated, and the water becomes clear water, which flows out from the overflow port 14 into the filtered water return path 13 and enters the water tank 10. In the configuration of the above embodiment, the pump unit 4 is detachable from the main body 1, so the unit 4 can be removed without causing any trouble during cleaning, storage, or transportation, and even if a failure occurs, the pump unit 4 can be removed. There is an advantage that only 4 can be replaced. Further, since the drive shaft 21 and the water suction pipe 7 can be easily disassembled and reassembled, it is possible to clean every detail, and there is no problem in replacing parts, which is advantageous for maintenance. Furthermore, since the flow path area on the inlet side is narrowed down by the connecting member 24 fitted to the lower end of the water suction pipe 7 to be smaller than the flow path area in the upper narrow diameter portion 7a, the water discharged by the radial impeller 23 is This has the effect of suppressing the downward flow of water when it is divided into upper and lower directions, thereby further increasing the lifting power.

Effects of the Invention The filtration device according to the present invention allows water in the aquarium to be automatically introduced into the filtration tank through the water suction pipe by simply driving the pump when the filtration device is installed, for example, on the edge of the aquarium as described above. Unlike conventional external filter devices, there is no need for the troublesome operation of filling the water suction pipe with water in advance, and it is easy to handle and operate. Since the pumping force is large due to the above effects, the pump motor can be made smaller than conventional pump motors, and the entire device can be made smaller and energy consumption can be reduced accordingly.
