Abstract

CONSTITUTION:The device consists of a CPU l for controlling a laser drive provided in the device, a timer 3 for measuring a using time of the laser and a timer drive circuit 2 for operating the timer 3. When one of these signals of read, write and erase is outputted from the CPU 1 in the above constitution, the timer drive circuit 2 is operated, and the using time corresponding to the operational kind of the laser, i.e. recording, reproducing and erasing is measured by the timer 3. By this method, a life of the laser can be estimated.
