Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need the replacing a light source from a user by providing two or more light source units including a collimating means, moving the light source units and instantaneously using another light source unit. CONSTITUTION:Two or more light source units 2 and 3 including the collimating means are provided and so shifted as to instantaneously use another light source unit 3. When the light source unit 2 during using is in fault, the light source unit group 1 slides leftward to use the spare light source unit 3. By interlocking with the switching of the light source to be used, an electric source line supplying power is also switched. The function of automatically moving the light source unit is added and therefore the need for a user to replace the light source is eliminated.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, the above-described projection type display device had a drawback in that the life of the light source was short. As a result, situations often arise where, for example, the light source goes out while enjoying a movie, and the user has to replace the light source each time.
I felt uncomfortable. I had such a problem.

[Means for Solving the Problems] A projection type display device of the present invention conomizes light from a light source, modulates it with a transmission light valve, and converts it with a projection optical device. The present invention is characterized in that it is equipped with two or more light source units including the following, and has a function of being able to immediately use another light source unit by moving the light source units.

[Function] In the projection type display device configured as described above, even if the light source goes out during use, the spare light source unit can be used immediately by moving the light source unit. Furthermore, by providing a function to automatically move the light source unit, the user virtually does not need to replace the light source, and the image only cuts out for a few seconds while the light source unit is automatically moved. It's just an inconvenience, so it won't be unpleasant. After enjoying the video etc., the user can replace the light source unit that has slowly broken down.
