In electrophotography, when a toner image support material is sent between a fixing roller and a pressure roller and the toner image on the support material is heated and melted (fixed) to the support material by the heat of the fixing roller, the toner offset is It is necessary to apply an anti-offset liquid (usually silicone oil) to the fixing roller in order to prevent the support material from wrapping around the roller.

Conventionally, a method has been used to apply the above-mentioned anti-offset liquid by bringing a felt absorbing and retaining silicone oil by capillary action into direct contact with a fixing roller. However, with this method, the amount of oil applied is too large, and the toner image support material is stained with oil.
There is a problem that the toner image is disturbed by the slip. Additionally, if the blade (a member that scrapes off toner and paper dust adhering to the fixing roller) wears out even slightly, the felt will become clogged with toner, causing uneven oil application, making maintenance of the blade difficult. It is.

As the polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane 2, one having a tensile strength of 100 kg/cm 2 or more in the direction of rotation of the fixing roller is usually used, but from the viewpoint of durability, a membrane of 200 kg/cm 2 or more is used. suitable. Such a porous membrane is made by stretching (preferably biaxially stretching) an unfired polytetrafluoroethylene sheet to make it porous, and then heating it at a temperature higher than the melting point of polytetrafluoroethylene while being fixed so as not to shrink in the stretching direction. It can be obtained by heating to a certain temperature and firing. The thickness of this porous membrane is 0.05 to 1 mm, the porosity is 40 to 90%, and the average pore diameter is
It is about 0.03 to 3μ.

In FIG. 2, offset prevention liquid supply member M
The liquid-absorbing material 1 absorbs and retains silicone oil by capillary action. Further, the polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane 2 is impregnated with a predetermined amount of silicone oil regulated by various factors such as its porosity, pore diameter, membrane thickness, and lipophilicity of polytetrafluoroethylene. This impregnating oil is applied to the fixing roller A as it rotates, and when the equilibrium state of oil impregnation is lost due to this application, the silicone oil in the liquid absorbing material 1 is applied to the polymer so as to restore the equilibrium state. Moving on to the tetrafluoroethylene porous membrane 2.

In addition to the polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane 2 described above, as shown in FIG. 3, a porous membrane (bag-like) 20 is also provided at the lower end of the liquid absorbent material 1, that is, at the part that will be immersed in silicone oil. For example, the amount of silicone oil to be applied can be adjusted on both the porous membrane 20 and the porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane 2, making the adjustment even easier.

The offset prevention liquid supply member in the fixing device according to the present invention has the configuration as described above, and includes a polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane attached to the liquid absorbing material, and this porous membrane brought into contact with the fixing roller. , the anti-offset liquid in the liquid-absorbing material is applied to the fixing roller through a polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane, and the above coating amount is adjusted to an appropriate amount in order to ensure the appropriate silicone oil permeability of the polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane. It can be done. In addition, in polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane, the average pore diameter is 3μ
The above appropriate coating amount can be achieved even with the following:
There is no uneven coating due to toner clogging, and the copying machine can be simplified by omitting a blade.

Furthermore, a plurality of mutually parallel non-bonded parts are provided between the polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane and the sheet-like liquid-absorbing material, so that the liquid-absorbing material can be transferred from the polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane to the polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane. There are multiple locations through which liquid can pass, so even if it becomes impossible to use one location due to wear and tear, it can be used multiple times by touching the next location with the fixing roller. Therefore, the life of the offset prevention liquid supply member can be substantially extended.
