Description
図1は、本実施形態に係る表示装置の一例を表す斜視図である。図2は、図1の表示装置を表すブロック図である。図3は、フィールドシーケンシャル方式において、光源が発光するタイミングを説明するタイミングチャートである。
図10は、実施形態2の液晶層においてモノマーが重合前の状態を示す断面図である。
図11は、液晶層において非散乱状態を説明するための断面図である。図12は、液晶層において散乱状態を説明するための断面図である。図11、12では、モノマーが重合した後の状態の液晶層を示している。上述した実施形態で説明したものと同じ構成要素には同一の符号を付して重複する説明は省略する。
この実施形態3では、上記した実施形態1と構成は概ね同一である。このため、上述した実施形態で説明したものと同じ構成要素には同一の符号を付して重複する説明は省略する。この実施形態3においても、ポリマーネットワーク51を構成するモノマー51A、液晶分子52、光重合開始剤53、第1配向膜AL1及び第2配向膜AL2には、上記した実施形態と同一の材料を用いることができる。

Claims (7)
- 高分子分散型液晶に用いられる配向膜材料であって、
前記高分子分散型液晶に含まれる光架橋性モノマーと連結される光架橋基を含み、
前記光架橋基は、ジアゾ基を含む、配向膜材料。 - 前記配向膜材料は、テトラカルボン酸化合物とジアミン化合物からなるポリアミド酸を含み、
前記テトラカルボン酸化合物が前記光架橋基を有する、請求項1に記載の配向膜材料。 - 第1透光性基板と、前記第1透光性基板と対向して配置される第2透光性基板と、前記第1透光性基板と前記第2透光性基板との間に封入される液晶層と、前記第1透光性基板及び前記第2透光性基板に設けられ前記液晶層と接する配向膜と、前記第1透光性基板及び前記第2透光性基板の少なくとも1つの側面に対向して配置される少なくとも1つの発光部と、を備え、
前記液晶層は、網目状に形成されたポリマーネットワークと、前記ポリマーネットワークの隙間に分散保持された液晶分子と含む高分子分散型液晶であり、
前記配向膜は、前記ポリマーネットワークと連結する光架橋基を有し、
前記配向膜は、前記光架橋基としてジアゾ基またはベンゾフェノン基を主鎖に有しているポリイミドである、液晶表示装置。 - 前記配向膜は、前記液晶層と接する面において、ラビング配向処理が施されている、請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向膜は、前記液晶層と接する面において、光配向処理が施されている、請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶分子及び前記ポリマーネットワークは、前記第1透光性基板及び前記第2透光性基板の間でホモジニアス配向、またはホメオトロピック配向している請求項3~5のいずれか一項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記高分子分散型液晶が散乱状態にあるとき、表示領域において画像を表示し、
前記高分子分散型液晶が非散乱状態にあるとき、前記表示領域において、前記第1透光性基板から前記第2透光性基板の背景が視認され、前記第2透光性基板から前記第1透光性基板の背景が視認される請求項3~6のいずれか一項に記載の液晶表示装置。
