実施例1.重合性界面活性剤C12C14-2.6AGE-15EO硫酸アンモニウム塩の調製
窒素ガスの表面下パージを伴う反応器内において、80℃で撹拌しながら320gのAlfol 1214に10.0gの45%水酸化カリウム溶液を加えた。100℃に加熱した後、ガスの流れを停止し、真空ポンプを使用してフラスコを約20”Hgで排気した。1時間後、真空を窒素で中断し、試料をカールフィッシャー滴定によって0.09%の水分含有量であると分析した。
11.1gの45%水酸化カリウム溶液を、窒素ガスの表面下パージを伴う反応器内において、100℃で撹拌しながら283gのNopolに加えた。ガスの流れを停止し、真空ポンプを使用してフラスコを約22”Hgで排気した。1時間後、真空を窒素で中断し、試料をカールフィッシャー滴定によって0.06%の水分含有量であると分析した。
脱イオン水(230.0g)及び重合性界面活性剤A(29.10%の固形分、3.2g)を、ゆっくりした連続的な窒素パージを伴う攪拌、加熱及び冷却手段を備えた乳化重合に適した反応器に加えた。連続的に攪拌しながら、反応器の温度を80℃に上げた。80℃において、モノマープレ乳化物(26.07g)[水(115g)重合性界面活性剤A(5.8g)、メタクリル酸メチル(40g)、2-エチルヘキシルアクリレート(296g)、アクリル酸(12g)、Sipomer BCEA(4g)及び連鎖移動剤(0.5g)を混合することによって調製され、アンモニア(6.4g)で調整された5.0%のプレ乳化物全体]を反応器に加えた。反応器の温度が80℃で安定したら、過硫酸アンモニウムの5%溶液(脱イオン水(10g)に溶解した0.5g)を反応器に加えた。
重合処方を表3に列挙し、プロセスは、実施例10のものと同様である。従来の非重合性界面活性剤、RHODACAL DS-10(ドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸ナトリウム、比較試料A)及びRHODAFAC PA12(オレイルエーテルエトキシル化ホスフェート、比較試料B)を使用した。ラテックスの特性を表4に列挙する。
実施例10~12で調製したラテックスポリマーをPSA用途における水白化耐性及び耐水性性能について試験した。水白化耐性は、室温及び高温水条件(約90℃)の両方で測定した。
