Description

The present invention relates to a pants-type absorbent article.

Conventionally, there is known a pants-type absorbent article having a ventral part arranged on the ventral side of the wearer, a dorsal part arranged on the dorsal side of the wearer, and a crotch part located between the ventral part and the dorsal part, and in which a pair of side seal parts, a waist opening and a pair of leg openings are formed (see Patent Documents 1 and 2). In such pants-type absorbent articles, in consideration of the fact that the skin of the buttocks stretches when the wearer of the absorbent article moves, for example, when the wearer sits or walks, the vertical length of the dorsal part of the exterior body is made longer than the vertical length of the ventral part, so that the narrowest part, which has the narrowest width in the exterior body, is arranged closer to the ventral part.

When the absorbent article is worn, the wearer's legs fit into the portion of the absorbent article that corresponds to the narrowest portion, so if the narrowest portion is located closer to the ventral side, the position of the periphery of the waist opening may be lower in the ventral side than in the dorsal side when the absorbent article is worn naturally. In contrast, if the narrowest portion is located closer to the dorsal side, the area of the portion of the outer body that covers the wearer's buttocks becomes relatively smaller, resulting in poor fit.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide an absorbent article that can overcome the above-mentioned drawbacks of the conventional techniques.

The present invention relates to a pants-type absorbent article having a ventral portion arranged on the ventral side of a wearer, a dorsal portion arranged on the dorsal side of the wearer, and a crotch portion located between the ventral portion and the dorsal portion, and in which a pair of side seal portions, a waist opening, and a pair of leg openings are formed.
The pants-type absorbent article has a longitudinal direction corresponding to the front-to-back direction of a wearer and a lateral direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.
In the pants-type absorbent article, the narrowest part of the outer body, which has the shortest horizontal length, is located on the abdominal side of the vertical center line that bisects the entire vertical length of the outer body and extends in the horizontal direction.
The exterior body has a vertically stretchable region in at least the crotch portion, in which a vertically stretchable sheet that stretches in the vertical direction is disposed.
The longitudinally stretchable sheet has a portion closer to the ventral side than the longitudinal center line, the portion being longer in the longitudinal direction than the portion closer to the dorsal side than the longitudinal center line.
The longitudinal center position of the longitudinally-elastic sheet coincides with the longitudinal center position of the absorbent body.

The present invention provides a pants-type absorbent article that has an appropriate waist opening periphery and excellent fit when worn.

The present invention will now be described based on its preferred embodiments.
1 to 3 show a pants-type disposable diaper (hereinafter, referred to as "diaper") 1, which is one embodiment of the pants-type absorbent article of the present invention. As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, the diaper 1 comprises a ventral side portion A that is arranged on the ventral side of a wearer when worn, a dorsal side portion B that is arranged on the dorsal side of the wearer, and a crotch portion C located therebetween. The diaper 1 also has a longitudinal direction X that corresponds to the front-to-rear direction of the wearer, and a lateral direction Y that is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X. The longitudinal direction X is a direction that extends from the ventral side portion A through the crotch portion C to the dorsal side portion B.

As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, the diaper 1 comprises an absorbent body 2 and an exterior body 3 arranged on the non-skin-facing side of the absorbent body 2. The exterior body 3 includes a ventral side exterior body 3A arranged on the ventral side portion A, a rear side exterior body 3B arranged on the rear side portion B, and a crotch exterior body 3C arranged on the crotch portion C.

The diaper 1 has two side seals S, S, a waist opening WH, and a pair of leg openings LH, LH, which are formed by joining both side portions 3e, 3e of the ventral outer body 3A along the vertical direction X and both side portions 3f, 3f of the rear outer body 3B along the vertical direction X. The diaper 1 also has a waist portion D in which the ventral portion A and the rear portion B are connected in a cylindrical shape.

As shown in FIG. 1 , the absorbent body 2 has a rectangular shape in a plan view, and is disposed in the center of the exterior body 3 in the lateral direction Y with its longitudinal direction aligned with the longitudinal direction X of the diaper 1, and extends in the longitudinal direction X from the abdominal side portion A through the crotch portion C to the dorsal side portion B.
As shown in FIG. 2, the absorbent body 2 has an absorbent body 23, a top sheet 21 arranged on the skin-facing side of the absorbent body 23, and a back sheet 22 arranged on the non-skin-facing side of the absorbent body 23.
The absorbent body 23 , like the absorbent main body 2 , has a shape that is elongated in the longitudinal direction X of the diaper 1 , and is disposed between the topsheet 21 and the backsheet 22 .
The top sheet 21, the absorbent body 23 and the back sheet 22 are integrated together by known joining means such as adhesion with an adhesive or fusion bonding.

The "skin-facing side" refers to the side of the diaper 1 or its constituent parts (e.g., absorbent body 23) that faces the wearer's skin when the diaper 1 is worn, and the "non-skin-facing side" refers to the side that faces away from the wearer's skin when the diaper 1 is worn. Furthermore, "when worn" and "worn state" refer to the state in which the diaper 1 is worn while maintaining the proper wearing position.

As described above, the exterior body 3 includes a ventral side exterior body 3A, a dorsal side exterior body 3B, and a crotch exterior body 3C. In this embodiment, these multiple exterior bodies 3A to 3C are connected to each other in the vertical direction X to form an exterior body 3 having a single continuous shape. The exterior body 3 has a larger area than the absorbent main body 2 and extends outward from the periphery of the absorbent main body 2. In a plan view of the diaper 1 in an unfolded and stretched state as shown in FIG. 1, the central part of the exterior body 3 in the vertical direction X including the crotch exterior body 3C is narrowed, and the exterior body 3 as a whole has an hourglass shape. The narrowest part 3g, which has the shortest length in the horizontal direction Y of the exterior body 3, is located on the ventral side A side of the vertical center line Lx that bisects the entire length L of the exterior body 3 in the vertical direction X and extends in the horizontal direction Y.

In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the ventral exterior body 3A and the dorsal exterior body 3B have an outer layer sheet 32, an inner layer sheet 31 arranged on the skin-facing side of the outer layer sheet 32, and a plurality of thread-like or band-like elastic members 33 arranged between the sheets 31, 32. The elastic members 33 are fixed to the sheets that constitute the exterior body 3 in a stretched state. The elastic members 33 include waist elastic members 33w arranged along the lateral direction Y at the peripheral edge WE of the waist opening WH.
The exterior body 3 has a vertical stretchable region 41 at least in the crotch part C. The vertical stretchable region 41 extends over the entire thickness of the exterior body 3. A vertical stretchable sheet 42 that stretches in the vertical direction X is disposed in the vertical stretchable region 41. The vertical stretchable sheet 42 may have a portion overlapping with another member that does not inhibit the stretchability in the vertical direction X. In this embodiment, the crotch exterior body 3C is formed by the vertical stretchable sheet 42. An inner layer sheet 31 may be laminated on the skin-facing side of the vertical stretchable sheet 42. It is preferable that the inner layer sheet 31 is a sheet that does not inhibit the stretching of the vertical stretchable sheet 42.

In the diaper 1, the portion 42A of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 located on the ventral portion A side of the longitudinal center line Lx is longer in the longitudinal direction X than the portion 42B of the ventral portion B side of the longitudinal center line Lx. The advantages of doing so are as follows. As described above, the narrowest portion 3g of the diaper 1 is located on the ventral portion A side of the longitudinal center line Lx. As a result, the length of the outer cover 3 in the longitudinal direction X is longer on the ventral portion B side than on the ventral portion A side, and the area of the ventral portion B covering the buttocks of the wearer is relatively large, improving the fit of the diaper 1. In a conventional diaper, when the narrowest portion 3g is located on the ventral portion A side of the longitudinal center line Lx, the position of the periphery WS of the waist opening WH may be lower in the ventral portion A than in the ventral portion B when the diaper is worn, as shown in FIG. 3. In contrast, in the diaper 1 of this embodiment, the portion 42A of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 on the abdominal portion A side of the longitudinal center line Lx is longer in the longitudinal direction X than the portion 42B on the dorsal portion B side, so that the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 stretches in the longitudinal direction X, pulling the exterior body 3 as a whole towards the abdominal portion A. This makes it possible to prevent the position of the periphery WE of the waist opening WH from being lower in the abdominal portion A than in the dorsal portion B, and allows the periphery WE of the waist opening WH to be positioned in an appropriate position.
As described above, according to the diaper 1 of the present embodiment, the peripheral edge of the waist opening WH is disposed at an appropriate position, and the diaper 1 has an excellent fit.

In order to make the above-mentioned effects more pronounced, the length La in the longitudinal direction X of the portion 42A of the longitudinal stretchable sheet 42 on the ventral side A side of the longitudinal center line Lx is preferably 1.2 times or more, more preferably 1.3 times or more, and preferably 2.0 times or less, more preferably 1.5 times or less, and more preferably 1.2 times or more and 2.0 times or less, and more preferably 1.3 times or more and 1.5 times or less, of the length Lb in the longitudinal direction X of the portion 42B of the longitudinal stretchable sheet 42 on the dorsal side B side of the longitudinal center line Lx.

In addition, in the diaper 1, the center position 42c in the vertical direction X of the vertically stretchable sheet 42 coincides with the center position 2c in the vertical direction X of the absorbent body 2. As a result, even if the vertically stretchable sheet 42 stretches, the relative position of the center position 42c in the vertical direction X of the absorbent body 2 with respect to the exterior body 3 is unlikely to shift, so that when the diaper 1 is worn, the absorbent body 2 can be placed in an appropriate position, and the fit of the diaper 1 can be further improved. Here, the center position 42c in the vertical direction X of the vertically stretchable sheet 42 coincides with the center position 2c in the vertical direction X of the absorbent body 2 means that the distance between the center position 42c in the vertical direction X of the vertically stretchable sheet 42 and the center position 2c in the vertical direction X of the absorbent body 2 is within 10% of the total length of the absorbent body 2, preferably within 5%.

It is preferable that the length of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 in the longitudinal direction X is the same as that of the absorbent body 2. This prevents the stretching force of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 from decreasing, and makes the effect of stretching the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 more remarkable. It is also possible to prevent the exterior body 3 from shrinking alone, causing wrinkles in the exterior body 3 and causing the wearer to feel uncomfortable.
Here, the length L3 in the longitudinal direction X of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 being the same as the length L2 in the longitudinal direction X of the absorbent body 2 includes not only the case where the length L3 and the length L2 are completely the same, but also the case where the length L3 and the length L2 are approximately the same.

The ratio L3/L2 of the length L3 in the longitudinal direction X of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 to the length L2 in the longitudinal direction X of the absorbent body 2 is preferably 0.5 or more, more preferably 0.9 or more, from the viewpoint of making the effect of the stretching of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 more pronounced, and from the viewpoint of preventing only the outer body 3 from shrinking and causing wrinkles in the outer body 3, which would cause the wearer to feel discomfort, is preferably 1.4 or less, more preferably 1.1 or less, and from the viewpoint of achieving both, it is preferably 0.5 to 1.4, more preferably 0.9 to 1.1.

It is preferable that the length D3 in the lateral direction Y of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 is equal to or greater than the length D2 in the lateral direction Y of the absorbent body 2. This prevents the stretching force of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 from decreasing, and makes the effect of the stretching of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 even more remarkable.
From the same viewpoint, the ratio D3/D2 of the length D3 to the length D2 is preferably 1.0 or more, more preferably 1.2 or more, and is preferably 2.0 or less, more preferably 1.5 or less, and is preferably 1.0 or more and 2.0 or less, and more preferably 1.2 or more and 1.5 or less.

The diaper 1 has a waist portion D in which the abdominal portion A and the back portion B are connected in a cylindrical shape. In the embodiment, the waist portion D is formed by joining both side portions 3e, 3e of the abdominal side exterior body 3A and both side portions 3f, 3f of the back side exterior body 3B.
In the longitudinal direction X, the end 42a of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 on the abdominal portion A side preferably reaches the waist circumference portion D of the abdominal portion A. This further increases the length La of the portion 42A on the abdominal portion A side of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42, thereby further preventing the position of the periphery WE of the waist opening WH from being lower in the abdominal portion A than in the back portion B. From the viewpoint of achieving this effect more significantly, the ratio L4/L3 of the length L4 of the portion where the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 and the waist circumference portion D of the abdominal portion A overlap in the longitudinal direction X to the length L3 of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 is preferably 0 or more, more preferably 0.1 or more, and also preferably 0.5 or less, more preferably 0.2 or less, and also preferably 0 or more and 0.5 or less, more preferably 0.1 or more and 0.2 or less.

It is preferable that the end 42b of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 on the back side B side does not reach the waist area D of the back side B. This prevents unnecessary wrinkles from forming in the waist area D of the back side B, improving the fit of the diaper 1.

In the diaper 1, as described above, the crotch outer body 3C includes a vertically stretchable sheet 42. It is preferable that the ventral outer body 3A and the dorsal outer body 3B include a laterally stretchable sheet that stretches in the horizontal direction. In the diaper 1, the outer layer sheet 32 is the laterally stretchable sheet 32. As shown in FIG. 4, the laterally stretchable sheet 32 and the vertically stretchable sheet 42 are stretchable sheets in which elastic filaments 53 arranged to extend in the vertical direction X or the horizontal direction Y are bonded between two nonwoven fabrics 51, 52. The two fiber sheets 51, 52 are stretchable in the vertical direction X or the horizontal direction Y.

The laterally stretchable sheet 32 and the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 having the above-mentioned configuration can be manufactured, for example, according to the method described in JP-A-2009-61743. Specifically, for example, while taking up and stretching a plurality of molten elastic filaments 53 spun out from a spinning nozzle at a predetermined speed, the elastic filaments 53 are fused to the fiber sheets 51, 52 before the elastic filaments 53 solidify so that the elastic filaments 53 are arranged in one direction without crossing each other, and then the sheets 51, 52 to which the elastic filaments 53 are fused are stretched along the direction in which the elastic filaments 53 extend, thereby manufacturing the laterally stretchable sheet 32 or the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42. The laterally stretchable sheet 32 has elasticity in the transverse direction Y as a whole, and the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 has elasticity in the longitudinal direction X as a whole.
By using the laterally stretchable sheet 32 and the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 as the stretchable sheets as described above, the diaper 1 can be given a fitting feel that is similar to that of underwear.
The elastic filament 53 differs from the thread-like or band-like elastic member 33 arranged in the waist opening WH in that it is fixed in a substantially unstretched state and in that the cross-sectional area perpendicular to the longitudinal direction is smaller than that of the elastic member 33 arranged in the waist opening WH.

It is preferable that the lateral stretchable sheet 32 of the ventral exterior body 3A, the lateral stretchable sheet 32 of the dorsal exterior body 3B, and the vertical stretchable sheet 42 of the crotch exterior body 3C are of the same type. This can improve the uniformity of the appearance of the diaper 1. Here, the stretchable sheets are of the same type meaning that a) the manufacturing process of the sheet, b) the type, fiber diameter, and fiber length of the constituent fibers of the sheet, and c) the thickness and basis weight of the sheet are all the same. If at least one of a) to c) is different, the sheets are of different types, that is, not of the same type. For example, even if the lateral stretchable sheet 32 and the vertical stretchable sheet 42 have different stretch characteristics (stretch direction, stretch rate, stretch stress, etc.), color, the presence or absence of a pattern, the presence or absence of an elastic member, the arrangement pattern of the elastic member, etc., are all the same, so long as a) to c) are all the same, both sheets 32, 42 are of the same type, that is, of the same type.

It is preferable that the laterally stretchable sheet 32 and the vertically stretchable sheet 42 have different elongation rates. This allows the stress in the crotch portion C and the waist portion D to be optimized. More specifically, the elongation rate of the laterally stretchable sheet 32 is preferably 170% or more, more preferably 190% or more, and also preferably 250% or less, more preferably 230% or less, and also preferably 170% or more and 250% or less, and more preferably 190% or more and 230% or less. The elongation rate of the vertically stretchable sheet 42 is preferably 110% or more, more preferably 130% or more, and also preferably 190% or less, more preferably 170% or less, and also preferably 110% or more and 190% or less, and more preferably 130% or more and 170% or less.

The elongation rate can be measured by the following method.

A method for measuring the elongation rate of the laterally stretchable sheet 32 will be described below, but the elongation rate of the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 can also be measured in the same manner.
With the diaper 1 in its natural state, two marks are made on the laterally stretchable sheet 32, spaced 50 mm apart in the stretch direction of the laterally stretchable sheet 32. With the diaper 1 stretched to its maximum in the stretch direction of the laterally stretchable sheet 32, the distance between the two marks is measured, and this measured value is taken as the stretch distance H (mm). The stretch percentage is then calculated using the following formula:
Elongation rate (%) = [Extension distance H (mm)/50 (mm)] x 100

The inner layer sheet 31 of the exterior body 3 is preferably a sheet that does not inhibit the stretching of the laterally stretchable sheet 32 in the area overlapping with the laterally stretchable sheet 32. Examples of such sheets include (1) stretchable sheets that stretch in the laterally stretchable sheet Y, for example, sheets having the same configuration as the laterally stretchable sheet 32, (2) extensible sheets that stretch at least in the laterally stretchable sheet Y, and (3) non-stretchable sheets that are joined to the laterally stretchable sheet 32 in a stretched state. The sheet (1) may have stretchability or extensibility in the vertical direction X in addition to stretchability in the laterally stretchable sheet Y. The laterally stretchable sheet 32 is combined with a sheet that does not inhibit stretching to form the ventral exterior body 3A and the dorsal exterior body 3B that have stretchability in the laterally stretchable sheet Y.
It is also preferable that the inner layer sheet 31 is a sheet that does not inhibit the stretching of the longitudinal stretchable sheet 42 in the area overlapping with the longitudinal stretchable sheet 42. Examples of such sheets include (4) stretchable sheets that stretch in the longitudinal direction X, for example, sheets having the same configuration as the longitudinal stretchable sheet 42, (5) extensible sheets that stretch at least in the longitudinal direction X, and (6) non-stretchable sheets that are joined to the longitudinal stretchable sheet 42 in a stretched state. The sheet (4) may have stretchability or extensibility in the transverse direction Y in addition to stretchability in the longitudinal direction X.
In each of the above embodiments, the inner layer sheet 31 and the laterally stretchable sheet 32 or the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 may be joined over the entire overlapping area, or may be joined partially in the overlapping area. The joints between the inner layer sheet 31 and the laterally stretchable sheet 32 or the longitudinally stretchable sheet 42 may be intermittently arranged in the stretch direction of the laterally stretchable sheet, or may be arranged in a regular pattern such as dots, stripes, or spirals.

While the ventral exterior body 3A and the rear exterior body 3B have waist elastic members 33w, it is preferable that the exterior body 3 does not have any thread-like or band-like elastic members other than the waist elastic members 33w. This allows the diaper 1 to have a snug fit like underwear.

The ventral exterior body 3A and the rear exterior body 3B each have a laterally stretchable sheet 32, and it is preferable that the laterally stretchable sheet 32 has a longer length in the longitudinal direction X on the rear side B side than on the ventral side A side from the longitudinal center line Lx. This can improve the fit of the diaper 1 to the buttocks. From the viewpoint of making this effect more pronounced, the ratio L6/L5 of the length L6 of the portion 41B of the laterally stretchable sheet 32 on the rear side B side from the longitudinal center line Lx to the length L5 of the portion 41A of the laterally stretchable sheet 32 on the ventral side A side from the longitudinal center line Lx is preferably 1.05 or more, more preferably 1.1 or more, and also preferably 1.8 or less, more preferably 1.4 or less, and also preferably 1.05 to 1.8, more preferably 1.1 to 1.4.

Next, another embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Figures 5 and 6. The embodiment shown in Figures 5 and 6 will be described only in terms of the differences from the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3. Points not specifically described about the embodiment shown in Figures 5 and 6 are the same as those of the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3, and the description of that embodiment applies as appropriate.

In the diaper 1 shown in Figures 5 and 6, the exterior body 3 is made of a single continuous member extending from the abdominal portion A through the crotch portion C to the back portion B. In the abdominal portion A and back portion B, the exterior body 3 has, like the diaper 1 shown in Figures 1 to 3, an outer layer sheet 32, an inner layer sheet 31 disposed on the skin-facing side of the outer layer sheet 32, and a plurality of thread-like or band-like elastic members 33 disposed between both sheets 31, 32. In the crotch portion C, the exterior body 3 has the inner layer sheet 31 and a longitudinally stretchable sheet 42.
In the diaper 1 shown in Figures 5 and 6, similarly to the diaper 1 shown in Figures 1 to 3, when worn, the periphery WE of the waist opening WH is positioned appropriately and provides an excellent fit.

Next, we will explain the points shared between the above-mentioned embodiments.

The top sheet 21 may be a liquid-permeable sheet, such as a nonwoven fabric or a perforated film. The surface of the top sheet 21 facing the skin may have an uneven shape. For example, a plurality of scattered convex portions may be formed on the surface of the top sheet 21 facing the skin. Alternatively, ridges and grooves extending in one direction may be formed alternately on the surface of the top sheet 21 facing the skin. For such purposes, the top sheet 21 may be formed using two or more sheets of nonwoven fabric.

The back sheet 22 may be, for example, a liquid-impermeable film or a spunbond, meltblown, or spunbond laminated nonwoven fabric. A liquid-impermeable film may be provided with a plurality of micropores to impart water vapor permeability to the film. To further improve the feel of the absorbent article against the skin, a sheet with a good texture, such as a nonwoven fabric, may be laminated on the outer surface of the back sheet 22.

The absorbent body 23 has an absorbent core. The absorbent core is composed of, for example, a stack of hydrophilic fibers such as cellulose including pulp, a mixed stack of the hydrophilic fibers and an absorbent polymer, a stack of absorbent polymer, a laminated structure in which an absorbent polymer is supported between two absorbent sheets, or the like. At least the skin-facing surface of the absorbent core may be covered with a liquid-permeable core wrap sheet, or the entire surface including the skin-facing surface and the non-skin-facing surface may be covered with the core wrap sheet. As the core wrap sheet, for example, tissue paper made of hydrophilic fibers or liquid-permeable nonwoven fabric can be used.

Although the present invention has been described based on the embodiment, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment and can be modified as appropriate.
For example, the absorbent body 2 may further include a structure that is well known in this type of article, such as three-dimensional gathers.
