Description

The present invention relates to a specimen collection container for collecting and storing specimens such as saliva.

Conventionally, as shown in Figures 17 to 19, this type of specimen collection container is made up of a saliva collection container 51 used to collect saliva, a funnel 52, and a preservation liquid container 53 that contains a preservation liquid for saliva (Patent Document 1).

The saliva collection container 51 is cylindrical with an opening 51a on the top surface, has a saliva storage chamber inside, and has a threaded portion 54 on the upper outer periphery for fitting into the preservative liquid storage container 53.

The funnel 52 is designed to be attached to the opening 51a at the top of the saliva collection container 51, and can be removed from the saliva collection container 51 by pulling it upward.

As shown in FIG. 19, the preservation liquid storage container 53 is formed in a cylindrical shape with a closed top and an opening 53a on the bottom, and is composed of a main body 55, a lid 56, and a crushing member 57. The saliva preservation liquid is stored inside the main body 55, and a threaded portion (not shown) that engages with the threaded portion 54 of the saliva collection container 51 is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the lower part of the main body 55. The lid 56 is formed in a disk shape, has an annular flange portion 58 on the outer periphery, and has a crushing surface 59 on the bottom surface. The crushing member 57 has a pressing portion 60 for pressing the lid 56, and a liquid passage port 61 that passes the preservation liquid to the saliva collection container 51 side (downward).

To use the specimen collection container, as shown in FIG. 17, saliva from the subject is collected into the saliva collection container 51 through a funnel 52 attached to the saliva collection container 51. Next, the funnel 52 is removed from the saliva collection container 51, and instead of the funnel 52, a preservative liquid storage container 53 is screwed into the threaded portion 54 at the top end of the saliva collection container 51 as shown in FIG. 18.

When this is done, the open end 51a of the saliva collection container 51 is inserted through the bottom of the preservation liquid storage container 53, the bottom of the preservation liquid storage container 53 is crushed, and the preservation liquid in the preservation liquid storage container 53 flows into the saliva collection container 51. This preservation liquid then mixes with the saliva in the saliva collection container 51, and the saliva and preservation liquid are preserved in an airtight state.

However, the specimen collection container described in Patent Document 1 is composed of a saliva collection container 51, a funnel 52, and a preservation liquid container 53, and the preservation liquid container 53 is further composed of a main body 55, a lid 56, and a crushing member 57, which increases the number of parts and poses the problem that assembling these parts is tedious.

In addition, the specimen collection container described in Patent Document 1 requires the incorporation of a lid 56 with a flange 58 and a crushing surface 59, and a crushing member 57 with a pressing portion 60 and a liquid passage port 61 into a main body 55 constituting a preservation liquid storage container 53, resulting in a problem of a complex structure.

The present invention aims to solve the problems of the past and provide a specimen collection container that has a reduced number of parts, a simple structure that is easy to assemble, and allows for easy specimen collection without causing leakage of preservative liquid.

Below, the embodiment of the specimen collection container of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

As shown in Figures 1 to 6, 7 to 11, and 12 to 16, the specimen collection container of the present invention comprises a specimen container 1, a preservation liquid container 2, and an inner stopper 3.

The specimen container 1 has a specimen container section 11 inside a substantially cylindrical, bottomed tube made of synthetic resin, and an external thread 12 is formed on the outer circumferential surface of the upper end, into which an internal thread 28 formed on the inner circumferential surface of an outer tube 23 of a preservation liquid container 2, which will be described later, is screwed. Furthermore, in the specimen container 1 shown in Figures 1 to 6, a specimen collection member 4, which will be described later, is attached in a detachable manner.

The storage liquid container 2 has an inner tube 21 made of synthetic resin and has an outer tube 23 on the lower outside of the inner tube 21 via a step 22. The upper part of the outer tube 23 is a handle 24, and the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the lower end of the inner tube 21, sealing the inner tube 21 of the storage liquid container 2. The handle 24 has a number of radially outward flanges 24a formed on the outer circumferential surface of the inner tube 21 above the outer tube 23, and the outward flanges 24a can be grasped with the fingers to make it easy to hold. Furthermore, the inner tube 21 contains the storage liquid L, and a liquid flow port 25 is formed below the insertion surface with the inner stopper 3. The liquid flow port 25 can be a communicating port such as a round hole, or a notch port in which the lower end of the inner tube 21 is intermittently notched as shown in the figure. In the preservation liquid container 2 shown in Figures 7 to 11 and 12 to 16, a concave cylinder 26 is vertically installed inside from the center of the top surface of the inner cylinder 21, and a cylindrical insert 27 with a vertical groove 27a formed on the side circumference is protruded from the peripheral portion of the bottom surface of the concave cylinder 26. Furthermore, an internal thread 28 is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the outer cylinder 23 so that it can be screwed into the external thread 12 of the specimen container 1. As shown in Figures 2b and 8b, this internal thread 28 is divided into multiple parts in the axial direction, making it easier to engage with the external thread 12 when screwed into the external thread 12 of the specimen container 1, and allowing for smooth screwing.

The inner plug 3 is a short, approximately cylindrical body made of synthetic resin, with an outward flange 31 on the outer peripheral surface of the upper end, and a breakable bottom 32 with a thin wall around the periphery, and an insertion portion 33 that is inserted into the inner tube 21 of the storage liquid container 2 is protruding from the upper surface of the bottom 32. In the insertion portion 33 shown in Figures 1 to 6, the space between each of a plurality of blades 34 crossed vertically forms a flow space 35, and the outer ends 34a of each blade 34 are inserted so as to contact the lower inner peripheral surface of the inner tube 21 of the storage liquid container 2, while in the ones shown in Figures 7 to 11 and Figures 12 to 16, an insertion tube 36 that rises from the center of the bottom 32 is inserted so as to contact the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical insert 27 of the storage liquid container 2. Furthermore, in the configurations shown in Figures 7 to 11 and 12 to 16, a specimen collection member 4, which will be described later, is attached to this inner plug 3.

When the preservation fluid container 2 is screwed partway into the specimen container 1, the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the upper end of the specimen container 1, so that the outer peripheral surface of the inner stopper 3 comes into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the specimen container 1, sealing the container section 11 of the specimen container 1, and the outward flange 31 of the inner stopper 3 engages with the upper end of the specimen container 1. Furthermore, when the preservation fluid container 2 is screwed all the way into the specimen container 1, the bottom 32 of the inner stopper 3 is pressed by the lower end of the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2 and breaks, so that the preservation fluid L contained in the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2 flows into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1 through the liquid outlet 25 formed in the lower part of the inner tube 21.

The specimen collection member 4 is funnel-shaped in the ones shown in Figs. 1 to 6, spoon-shaped in the ones shown in Figs. 7 to 11, and swab-shaped in the ones shown in Figs. 12 to 16. When the specimen collection member 4 is funnel-shaped, the upper end is an opening 4a, and a clamping portion 41 is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the lower part, so that it is clamped and locked to the upper end of the specimen container 1. Therefore, the specimen collection member 4 can be removed from the specimen container 1 by pulling it upward. When the specimen collection member 4 is spoon-shaped, a scooping portion 42 is formed at the lower part, a contact portion 43 is formed in the middle part, and a rod-shaped insertion portion 44 is formed at the upper part. The insertion portion 44 is inserted into the insertion tube 36 of the bottom 32 of the inner plug 3, the contact portion 43 is abutted against the bottom 32, and the insertion portion 44 is inserted into the bottom 32 of the inner plug 3. When the specimen collecting member 4 is shaped like a cotton swab, a cotton ball 45 is attached to the bottom, a rod-shaped insertion part 44 is formed at the top via a contact part 43 in the middle, and this insertion part 44 is inserted into the insertion tube 36 and inserted into the bottom part 32 of the inner plug body 3 in the same manner as when the specimen collecting member 4 is shaped like a spoon. When the specimen collecting member 4 is shaped like a cotton swab, in order to make it easier to collect a specimen, it is preferable to previously store physiological saline P or the like in the storage part 11 of the specimen storage body 1, and to soak the cotton ball 45 of the specimen collecting member 4 in this physiological saline P to moisten the cotton ball 45.

The specimen is preferably saliva or the like when the specimen collection member 4 is funnel-shaped, preferably feces or the like when the specimen collection member 4 is spoon-shaped, and preferably skin-resident bacteria or the like when the specimen collection member 4 is swab-shaped, but various specimens such as sputum, ear, nose and throat swabs, blood, and urine can also be used.

The preservation liquid L can be a wide variety of solutions, including solutions for virus inactivation, RNA extraction, and RNA stably preservation, or solutions for DNA extraction and DNA stably preservation, or solutions for sterilizing or inactivating the target specimen and stably preserving the measured substance.

As shown in FIG. 1, the specimen collection container of the present invention can be stored or shipped by separating the specimen container 1 and the preservation fluid container 2, clamping and locking the clamping portion 41 of the specimen collection member 4 to the upper end of the specimen container 1, inserting the inner stopper 3 into the inner tube 21 so that the inner surface of the inner stopper 3 contacts the lower outer surface of the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2 and the outer end 34a of the blade 34 of the insertion portion 33 of the inner stopper 3 contacts the lower inner surface of the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2.

Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 7, the specimen collection container of the present invention can be stored or shipped by separating the specimen container 1 and the preservation fluid container 2, leaving the specimen container 1 as is, and inserting the inner stopper 3 into the inner tube 21 so that the inner surface of the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2 is in contact with the outer surface of the lower part of the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2, the outer surface of the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3 is in contact with the inner surface of the cylindrical insert 27 of the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2, and the outer surface of the insertion part 44 of the specimen collection member 4 is in contact with the inner surface of the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3.

As shown in FIG. 12, the specimen collection container of the present invention is in a state where the inner peripheral surface of the inner stopper 3 is in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the lower part of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2, the outer peripheral surface of the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3 is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical insert 27 of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2, and the outer peripheral surface of the insertion part 44 of the specimen collection member 4 is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3, so that the inner thread 28 of the outer tube 23 of the preservation liquid container 2 is screwed halfway into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, so that the cotton ball 45 of the specimen collection member 4 is immersed in the physiological saline solution P contained in the storage part 11 of the specimen container 1, and the specimen container 1 and the preservation liquid container 2 are integrated and packaged or wrapped for storage or shipping.

The specimen collection container of the present invention is configured as described above and is used as follows:

First, in the specimen collection container of the present invention shown in Figures 1 to 6, as shown in Figure 3, saliva S collected from the opening 4a of the specimen collection member 4 is poured into the storage section 11 of the specimen container 1, and then the specimen collection member 4 is pulled out and removed from the specimen container 1. Then, as shown in Figure 4, the inner thread 28 of the outer tube 23 of the preservation fluid container 2 is screwed partway into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, and the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the upper end of the specimen container 1 so that the outer peripheral surface of the inner stopper 3 comes into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the specimen container 1 and the outward flange 31 of the inner stopper 3 is engaged with the upper end of the specimen container 1.

Next, when the inner thread 28 of the preservation fluid container 2 is screwed all the way into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, the lower end of the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2 descends, as shown in FIG. 5, and this lower end presses against the bottom 32 of the inner stopper 3, causing it to break.

Then, the preservation liquid L contained in the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2 flows from the flow space 35 of the inner stopper 3 through the flow port 25 formed in the lower part of the inner tube 21 into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1, and mixes with the saliva S contained in the container section 11. Note that since the outer end 34a of the blade 34 of the insertion part 33 of the inner stopper 3 contacts the lower inner circumferential surface of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2, the inner stopper 3 does not fall out into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1.

Furthermore, in the specimen collection container of the present invention shown in Figures 7 to 11, after the stool is scooped with the scooping portion 42 of the specimen collection member 4, as shown in Figure 9, the specimen collection member 4 is accommodated in the accommodation portion 11 of the specimen container 1, the internal threads 28 of the outer tube 23 of the preservation fluid container 2 are screwed partway into the external threads 12 of the specimen container 1, and the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the upper end of the specimen container 1 so that the outer peripheral surface of the inner stopper 3 comes into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the specimen container 1 and the outward flange 31 of the inner stopper 3 is engaged with the upper end of the specimen container 1.

Next, when the inner thread 28 of the preservation fluid container 2 is screwed all the way into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, the lower end of the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2 descends, as shown in FIG. 10, and this lower end presses against the bottom 32 of the inner stopper 3, causing it to break.

Then, the preservation liquid L contained in the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2 flows through the flow port 25 formed in the lower part of the inner tube 21 into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1, washing away the feces scooped by the scooping part 42 of the specimen collecting member 4 into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1. Since the outer peripheral surface of the insertion part 33 of the inner stopper 3 contacts the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical insert 27 of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2, the inner stopper 3 and the specimen collecting member 4 inserted into the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3 will not fall out into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1.

In the specimen collection container of the present invention shown in Figs. 12 to 16, the inner thread 28 of the preservation fluid container 2, which is partially screwed into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, is loosened, and the preservation fluid container 2 is removed from the specimen container 1 as shown in Fig. 13, and the physiological saline solution P in the container section 11 of the specimen container 1 is discarded. Then, after collecting the skin resident bacteria with the cotton ball 45 of the specimen collection member 4, the specimen collection member 4 is contained in the container section 11 of the specimen container 1 as shown in Fig. 14. Furthermore, the inner thread 28 of the preservation fluid container 2 is partially screwed into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, and the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the upper end of the specimen container 1 so that the outer circumferential surface of the inner stopper 21 comes into contact with the inner circumferential surface of the specimen container 1 and the outward flange 31 of the inner stopper 3 is engaged with the upper end of the specimen container 1.

Next, when the inner thread 28 of the preservation fluid container 2 is screwed all the way into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, the lower end of the inner tube 21 of the preservation fluid container 2 descends, as shown in FIG. 15, and this lower end presses against the bottom 32 of the inner stopper 3, causing it to break.

Then, the preservation liquid L contained in the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2 flows through the liquid outlet 25 formed in the lower part of the inner tube 21 into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1, washing away the resident skin bacteria adhering to the cotton ball 45 of the specimen collection member 4 into the specimen container 1. Since the outer peripheral surface of the insertion section 33 of the inner stopper 3 contacts the inner peripheral surface of the tubular insert 27 of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2, the inner stopper 3 and the specimen collection member 4 inserted into the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3 will not fall out into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1.

The specimen collection container of the present invention thus constructed is stored or transported in an airtight state by screwing the inner threads 28 of the outer tube 23 of the preservation fluid container 2 all the way into the outer threads 12 of the specimen container 1, but in the configuration shown in Figures 1 to 6, the inner stopper 3 does not fall out into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1. Therefore, even when a testing facility or the like loosens the inner threads 28 of the outer tube 23 of the preservation fluid container 2 screwed into the outer threads 12 of the specimen container 1 as shown in Figure 6, removes the preservation fluid container 2 from the specimen container 1, and takes out the mixture M of saliva S and preservation fluid L from the container section 11 of the container 1 with a syringe or the like and uses it for testing, the inner stopper 3 does not get in the way.

Furthermore, in the specimen collection container of the present invention shown in Figs. 7 to 11 and Figs. 12 to 16, the inner stopper 3 and specimen collection member 4 do not fall out into the storage section 11 of the specimen container 1. Therefore, as shown in Figs. 11 and 16, when a testing facility or the like loosens the inner threads 28 of the outer tube 23 of the preservation solution container 2 screwed into the outer threads 12 of the specimen container 1, removes the preservation solution container 2 from the specimen container 1, and removes the mixture M of the feces, skin resident bacteria, and the respective preservation solutions L from the storage section 11 of the container 1 with a syringe or the like and provides it for testing, the inner stopper 3 and specimen collection member 4 do not get in the way.

The specimen collection container of the present invention is constructed as described above, and as mentioned above, it has a simple structure, is easy to assemble, is convenient to store and transport, and is not contaminated by dust or germs during storage or transport.

In addition, the specimen collection container of the present invention allows the subject to collect the specimen himself, and the collected specimen can be stored and sent to an analytical institution without touching any parts to which the collected specimen is attached, making it highly safe and preventing secondary infection.
