Description
調光領域AAの外側の周辺領域GAは、上述した調光制御が不可能な領域である。このため、調光領域AAの外側の周辺領域GAでは、液晶分子17の配向乱れが生じる。周辺領域GAに設けられた第1基板5上の第1金属配線11、第2基板6上の第2金属配線14は、ITO等の透光性導電酸化物に比較して遮光性があるが、図5に示すように、例えば、第1基板5上の第1金属配線11間の隙間から光漏れが生じて、調光機能の低下を招く可能性がある。
図11は、実施形態2に係る調光装置の第2基板上の周辺領域をDz方向から見た平面図である。図12は、実施形態2に係る調光装置の第1基板と第2基板とをDz方向に重ねた透視図である。図13は、図12に示すC-C’線断面図である。なお、以下の説明では、上述した実施形態1で説明したものと同じ構成要素には同一の符号を付して重複する説明は省略し、実施形態1とは異なる点について説明する。また、図11及び図12では、説明を容易とするために、調光領域AA内の図示を省略している。

Claims (2)
- 光源から照射される光を液晶の配向により制御可能な調光領域を有する複数の液晶セルが光の照射方向に積層された調光装置であって、
前記液晶セルは、
複数の第1金属配線が設けられる第1基板と、
複数の第2金属配線が設けられ、前記第1基板との間に液晶層を挟む第2基板と、
を備え、
複数の前記第1金属配線は、それぞれ前記第1基板上の配線層において間隔を空けて設けられており、
複数の前記第2金属配線は、それぞれ前記第2基板上の配線層において間隔を空けて設けられており、
複数の前記液晶セルのうちの少なくとも1つの液晶セルは、前記調光領域の外側の周辺領域の全面において、複数の前記第1金属配線の間の隙間が、前記光の照射方向において、前記第2金属配線によって遮光され、複数の前記第2金属配線の間の隙間が、前記光の照射方向において、前記第1金属配線によって遮光されている、
