Description

The present invention relates to a fall prevention device that can adequately prevent objects from falling.

Conventionally, vehicle seats equipped with a fall prevention mechanism, such as that described in Patent Document 1 below, are known.

This conventional fall prevention mechanism has an elastically deformable frame member that is formed in a U-shape along the periphery of the seat cushion (seat portion) and has fixing parts at both ends fixed to the seat cushion, and that extends from the fixing parts upward above the seat cushion, and a covering member that is fixed to the frame member and the seat cushion and covers the gap between the frame member and the seat cushion when the frame member is positioned above the seat cushion, and is configured to hold the frame member below the upper surface of the seat cushion when the frame member is elastically deformed.

However, with the above-mentioned conventional system, if a relatively large item such as luggage is placed on the seat of the vehicle, there is a risk that the reaction of applying the brakes will cause the item to climb over the fall prevention mechanism and fall onto the floor of the vehicle.

The present invention has been made in consideration of these points, and aims to provide a fall prevention device that can appropriately prevent objects from falling.

The fall prevention device according to the present invention is a fall prevention device that is attached to a vehicle seat and prevents objects from falling, and includes a first cover body that covers the seat bottom of the seat, and a second cover body that is attached to the first cover body and covers the first cover body. When not in use, a seat occupant can sit on the second cover body to get on the vehicle, and when in use, objects can be stored between the first cover body and the second cover body.

The fall prevention device according to the present invention is attached to a vehicle seat and prevents items from falling, and includes a first cover body that covers the seat bottom of the seat, a second cover body that is attached to the first cover body and covers the first cover body, and an engagement body that is attached to the second cover body and can engage with an engagement portion of the seat. When not in use, a seat occupant can sit on the second cover body and ride the seat, and when in use, a storage section is formed between the first cover body and the second cover body by the engagement between the engagement portion and the engagement body, and items can be stored in the storage section.

One embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Figures 1 to 4.

In FIG. 1, 1 is a seat of an automobile vehicle, and 2 is a fall prevention device that also serves as a seat cover and can be detachably attached to the seat 1 after installation.

The fall prevention device (attachable seat cover and fall prevention device) 2 is intended to prevent an item A placed on the seat 1 from falling from the seat 1 onto the floor of the vehicle. The item A is, for example, a bag, smartphone, computer, or shopping bag, and is luggage that the driver places in the vacant passenger seat when one person is in the vehicle.

As shown in FIG. 1, seat 1 is a seat other than the driver's seat in which a driver of a vehicle sits, for example, the passenger seat on the front left side.

The seat 1 is equipped with a seat portion (seat cushion) 5 that supports the buttocks of a seated person (passenger) B who sits next to the driver, a backrest portion (seat back) 6 that is provided at the rear end of the seat portion 5 and supports the back of the seated person B, and a headrest portion 7 that is provided at the upper end of the backrest portion 6 and supports the head of the seated person B. The seat 1 is supported by a seat support portion provided on the floor portion of the vehicle body (vehicle floor) so that the seat can be adjusted forward and backward.

As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the fall prevention device 2 is made of, for example, a flexible material (for example, a cloth material such as woven fabric, knitted fabric, or nonwoven fabric, or a leather material such as natural leather, synthetic leather, or artificial leather).

The fall prevention device 2 is removably attached to the seat portion 5 of the seat 1 and comprises a first cover body 11 that covers the upper surface, front surface, rear surface, left side surface, and right side surface of the seat portion 5 of the seat 1, a sheet-like second cover body 12 that is provided on the first cover body 11 and covers the upper surface of the first cover body 11 in a state where it is overlapped on the first cover body 11 (overlapping state), and a string-like engagement body 13 that is provided on the second cover body 12 and can be engaged with the headrest portion 7, which is the engaged portion of the seat 1.

When the fall prevention device 2 is not in use, occupant B can sit on the overlapping second cover body 12 and ride in the vehicle (see FIG. 3). That is, for example, when not in use, occupant B can sit on the second cover body 12 and ride next to the driver so that his/her buttocks are supported by the seat part 5 of the seat 1 via the first cover body 11 and the second cover body 12 that are overlapped vertically (i.e., via a double cover).

When the fall prevention device 2 is in use, an article A can be stored between the first cover body 11 and the second cover body 12 so that the article A does not fall (see FIG. 4). That is, for example, when the fall prevention device 2 is in use, the headrest portion 7 of the seat 1 is engaged with the engaging body 13 (e.g., hook engagement) so that the second cover body 12 is lifted upward from the first cover body 11 and maintained in a lifted state inclined forward and downward (a tilted state with the front low and the rear high), forming a storage section 14 of a predetermined size between the first cover body 11 and the second cover body 12, and the article A can be stored in the storage section 14 from the driver's seat side so that the article A does not move at least forward and fall.

In other words, at this time, the driver sitting in the driver's seat can store item A in the storage section 14 between the first cover body 11 and the second cover body 12 so that item A does not fall off the top surface of the first cover body 11 and is not visible from outside the vehicle.

Here, the first cover body 11 has a sheet-shaped upper cover part 21 that covers the upper surface of the seat part 5 of the automobile seat 1, a sheet-shaped front cover part 22 that covers the front surface of the seat part 5, a sheet-shaped rear cover part 23 that covers the rear surface of the seat part 5, a sheet-shaped left side cover part 24 that covers the left side surface of the seat part 5, and a sheet-shaped right side cover part 25 that covers the right side surface of the seat part 5.

The second cover body 12 is, for example, composed of a sheet-like cover member of the same size (including approximately the same size) as the top cover part 21 of the first cover body 11, and can be in an overlapping state where it overlaps with the top cover part 21 to cover the entirety (including approximately the entirety) of the top cover part 21, or in a raised state where the rear side is lifted upward from the top cover part 21 with a downwardly sloping front. In other words, the second cover body 12 is in an overlapping state when not in use, and in a raised state when in use.

The front end of the second cover body 12 is attached to the front end of the top cover part 21 of the first cover body 11, and only the left end (the outer side end on the door side), which is the side end opposite the driver's seat, is attached to the corresponding left end of the top cover part 21 of the first cover body 11 via a sheet-like connecting member (foldable and unfoldable gusset member) 31.

Therefore, when the second cover body 12 is in the raised state (when the fall prevention device 2 is in use), the left side of the storage section 14 is closed by the connecting member 31 in the deployed state, but the right side of the storage section 14 is open. In other words, the storage section 14 has a side opening 32 that opens toward the right side (driver's seat side) and a rear opening 33 that opens toward the rear (backrest side).

The driver can insert and remove item A into and from the storage section 14 through the side opening 32 for inserting and removing items. Furthermore, item A stored in the storage section 14 through the side opening 32 and placed on the top cover section 21 has its forward movement restricted by contact with the second cover body 12 in the raised state, and its leftward movement restricted by contact with the connecting member 31 in the unfolded state. In other words, item A stored in the storage section 14 has its front and upper parts covered by the second cover body 12 in the raised state, and its leftward part covered by the connecting member 31 in the unfolded state.

As a result, the item A in the storage section 14 does not fall from the top cover section 21 of the first cover body 11 onto the floor. In other words, the item A in the storage section 14 does not fall from the bottom portion 5 of the seat 1 onto the floor of the vehicle even if it is subjected to a reaction force during braking, etc.

The connecting member 31 is, for example, a foldable triangular sheet-like member, one end of which is attached to the left end of the top cover part 21 of the first cover body 11, and the other end of which is attached to the left end of the second cover body 12.

When not in use, the connecting member 31 is sandwiched between the two cover bodies 11, 12 and is in a folded state, and when in use, it is lifted up together with the second cover body 12 and is in an unfolded state, and the left side of the storage section 14 is closed by the connecting member 31 in this unfolded state.

The engagement body 13 is, for example, a single elongated string-like member, with one end attached to the left side of the rear end of the second cover body 12 and the other end attached to the right side of the rear end of the second cover body 12. When not in use, the engagement body 13 is stored sandwiched between the two cover bodies 11, 12, and when in use, it is detachably hooked onto the headrest portion 7 located on the upper side of the seat 1. The engagement body 13 may be, for example, two string-like members, or may be configured to be detachable from the rear end of the second cover body 12 and attached to the rear end of the second cover body 12 only when in use.

Next, we will explain the function of the fall prevention device 2.

As shown in FIG. 3, when the fall prevention device 2 is not in use, the seated person B can sit on the second cover body 12 and ride next to the driver so that his or her buttocks are supported by the seat part 5 of the seat 1 via the overlapping double cover bodies 11, 12.

On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 4, when using the fall prevention device 2, the driver (not shown) first hooks the engagement member 13 onto the headrest portion 7 of the seat 1.

Then, due to this hooking engagement, the second cover body 12 is lifted upward together with the connecting member 31 and maintained in a raised state with a downward inclination at the front, resulting in the formation of a storage section 14 of a predetermined size between the first cover body 11 and the second cover body 12.

Therefore, the driver sitting in the driver's seat can store an item A, such as a bag, in the storage section 14 through the side opening 32 so that it is covered and hidden by the second cover body 12 and the connecting member 31 and cannot be seen from outside the vehicle.

Even if the brakes are applied in this state, the forward movement of the item A in the storage section 14 is restricted by contact with the second cover body 12 in the raised state, so the item A will not fall from the top cover part 21 of the first cover body 11 to the floor.

Therefore, with this type of fall prevention device 2, even if the item A is, for example, a relatively large or heavy piece of luggage, it will not fall from the seat 1 to the floor due to the reaction force when braking, and the item A can be appropriately prevented from falling.

In addition, when not in use, the seated person B can sit on the second cover body 12 and ride, which avoids the problem of the fall prevention device 2 getting in the way.

Furthermore, since the second cover body 12 is provided with an engagement body 13 that maintains the second cover body 12 in a raised state with a downward forward incline during use, a storage section 14 of a predetermined size can be easily formed by simply hooking the engagement body 13 onto the headrest section 7, and the holding strength of the item A can be improved.

In addition, the item A stored in the storage section 14 is covered by the second cover body 12 and the connecting member 31 and is almost invisible from outside the vehicle, which helps prevent theft.

In the above embodiment, the first cover of the fall prevention device covers only the seat portion of the seat, but is not limited to this and may cover, for example, both the seat portion and the backrest portion of the seat.

In addition, for example, to prevent the second cover body from shifting position relative to the first cover body when not in use, the second cover body may be releasably fixed to the first cover body using a fixing means such as a string or hook-and-loop fastener when not in use.

Furthermore, for example, by providing connecting members (gusset members) on both the left and right sides of the storage section, both the left and right sides can be closed, making it possible to configure the items in the storage section so that they are completely invisible from outside the vehicle.

The first cover body may also be fixed to the seat of the vehicle seat using a fastening means such as a string or hook-and-loop fastener.

Furthermore, the first cover body only needs to cover at least the upper surface of the seat portion of the vehicle seat, and may consist of, for example, only a sheet-like cover member formed to the same size as the second cover body.

In addition, for example, the second cover body may be detachably provided on the first cover body, or the engagement body may be detachably provided on the second cover body, and the engagement body may be made of an elastically deformable member.

Furthermore, the engaging member may be configured to maintain the second cover body in an overlapping state with the upper surface of the first cover body by engaging with the engaged portion on the lower side of the seat when the fall prevention device is not in use, and to maintain the second cover body in a lifted state in which it is lifted with a downward forward incline from the upper surface of the first cover body by engaging with the engaged portion on the upper side of the seat when the fall prevention device is in use.

In addition, an engagement body that can engage with the sheet is not necessarily required. For example, as shown in FIG. 5, the fall prevention device 2 may be configured without an engagement body, and even with this configuration, it is possible to prevent the item A from falling or being stolen.
