[Solution] The temporary fastening device of the present invention is an alternative method for temporarily fastening overlapping pieces of fabric without using a pin. This device achieves a temporary fastening effect on overlapping pieces of fabric by inserting a needle 5 attached to the end of a handle 1 into overlapping pieces of fabric sandwiched between a needle housing 6 and a base 3, drawing the fibers of the upper fabric to the lower fabric and the fibers of the lower fabric to the upper fabric. The side of the needle has a protrusion that draws the fibers of the fabric to the lower side of the fabric, and a protrusion that draws the fibers of the fabric to the upper side of the fabric. Description
The present invention relates to a "temporary fastening device" that replaces a "pin" 16, which prevents "layered fabric, etc." (hereinafter simply referred to as "fabric") 11 from shifting and temporarily fastens the fabric when sewing stretchy fabric or appliqués with a sewing machine.
The sewing machine will be explained with reference to Figure 10. Figures 10(a) and (b) are a perspective view and a side view of the same part of the sewing machine. The "fabric" 11 in Figure 10(b) is clamped between the upper "presser foot" 8 and the lower "feed dog" 7, and sewn by intertwining it above and below with a thread passed through the "sewing needle" 10 in Figure 10(a). Because of the structure of the machine, the "feed dog" 7 moves in a straight line, so straight line sewing is the norm, but curved sewing is also possible.
To sew curved stitches, the "fabric" 11 must be rotated by hand in sync with the linear motion of the "feed dog" 7, but this method causes misalignment between the top and bottom of the "fabric" 11 sandwiched between the "presser foot" 8 and the "feed dog" 7. For this reason, as shown in Figure 11, the top and bottom "fabric" 11 are currently temporarily secured with "pins" 16 to prevent misalignment. In particular, when the radius of the curved part is small, the misalignment becomes large, and the "pins" 16 must be used frequently.
It is possible to temporarily fasten the sewing thread with a "clip" (not shown) instead of the "pin" 16, but this is difficult to attach and remove, and is not suitable for sewing fine curves.
On the other hand, the staplers shown in FIG. 12 and the patent document 1 are used to fasten paper and the like, and are not used to fasten cloth.
Therefore, current sewing machines have the problem that auxiliary tools such as "pins" 16 and "clips" must be used to prevent the "fabric" 11 from slipping and to temporarily hold it in place. This is a factor that reduces the operability and efficiency of the sewing machine.
When sewing "cloth" 11 with the sewing machine shown in FIG. 10(b), the "cloth" 11 is sandwiched between the "feed dog" 7 and the "presser foot" 8, and the "presser foot lifting lever" 9, which is linked to the "presser foot" 8, must be raised and lowered while sewing while removing the "pins" 16. For example, if 50 "pins" 16 are used, the "presser foot lifting lever" 9 must be operated 100 times.
In addition, when temporarily fastening the "cloth" 11 as shown in Figure 11 using the "pin" 16, care must be taken with how and where the pin is inserted into the "cloth" 11, which poses a risk of injury to the hand if the "pin" 16 pierces it. Also, when sewing the "cloth" 11, there are issues such as the needle breaking due to the "pin" 16 intersecting with the "sewing needle" 10, the "pin" 16 getting caught inside the sewing machine, and wear on the "feed dog" 7.
To solve the above problems, it is necessary to temporarily fasten the "cloth" 11 so that it can be sewn without using the "pin" 16 when sewing the "cloth" 11 with a sewing machine.
The present invention is a "temporary fastening device" that includes a "handle" 1 to which a "needle" 5 in FIG. 4 is attached, and a "base" 3 that is connected to the "handle" 1 at its end and can rotate freely around the end as a rotation axis, and in which a protrusion is provided on the "needle" 5.
Furthermore, it includes a "needle container" 6 that is disposed between the "handle" 1 and the "base" 3 and that contains the "needle" 5.
In other words, as an alternative to temporarily fastening the "cloth" 11 with a "pin" 16, Figures 1 to 4 show an example of a "temporary fastening device," Figure 6 shows the operation pattern for temporarily fastening the "cloth" 11 with the "temporary fastening device," and Figure 7 shows the state in which the "cloth" 11 has been temporarily fastened with the "temporary fastening device."
Specifically, as shown in Figures 6 and 7, this "temporary fastening device" pulls the fibers of the upper fabric of "cloth" 11 toward the lower fabric and the fibers of the lower fabric toward the upper fabric, allowing for temporary fastening to prevent the upper and lower fabrics from shifting, in place of a "pin" 16. In other words, by simply temporarily fastening the outside of the "finished line" 17 shown in Figure 11 with the "temporary fastening device," it is possible to prevent the "cloth" 11 from shifting and achieve the temporary fastening effect, allowing you to concentrate only on sewing.
The present invention provides a device that prevents the "fabric" 11 from shifting when sewing with a sewing machine, and by pulling the fibers of the lower fabric toward the upper fabric and the fibers of the upper fabric toward the lower fabric as shown in Figure 7, the "fabric" 11 can be temporarily fastened without using the "pin" 16. This eliminates the need to raise and lower the "presser foot lifter" 9 and remove the "pin" 16 while sewing, improving the efficiency of sewing work and preventing hand injuries and sewing machine breakdowns caused by the "pin" 16. In other words, this invention is expected to improve the quality and safety of sewing, as well as increase the value of sewing machines in industry.
Staplers of the shape shown in Figure 12 have been known for some time, but the temporary fastening device provided by the present invention has a metal handle 1 pivotally attached to the rear of the staple container 6 in Figure 4, which functions in the same way as a metal handle 14 pivotally attached to the rear of the magazine 12 of a stapler.
The difference between the "temporary fastening device" of the present invention and a "stapler" is that a "stapler" works by driving out "staples" (not shown) formed in a U-shape stored in a metal "magazine" 12 with a "driver" 13 attached to the end of a metal "handle" 14, and clinching paper, etc., whereas the "temporary fastening device" works by penetrating the "cloth" 11 sandwiched between the "staple container" 6 and the "base" 3 with a "needle" 5 attached to the end of the "handle" 1 as shown in Figures 4 and 6, and then pulling it up, thereby drawing the fibers of the upper fabric of the "cloth" 11 to the lower fabric side and the fibers of the lower fabric to the upper fabric side as shown in Figure 7.
The configuration of the "temporary fastening device" of the present invention is explained with reference to Figure 4. The three bodies, a "handle" 1 with a "needle" 5 attached from above, a "needle housing" 6 and a "base" 3, are joined at the rear end and the device can rotate freely around this end as the axis of rotation. However, "leaf springs" 15 are attached between the "handle" 1, the "needle housing" 6 and the "base" 3, respectively, and when pressure is applied from above or below, the three bodies combine and return to their original state when pressure is removed.
Figure 6 shows the movement pattern of the three bodies: "handle" 1, "needle housing" 6, and "base" 3. The "leaf spring" 15 between the "handle" 1, "needle housing" 6, and "base" 3 is selected so that the "needle housing" 6 first descends onto the "cloth" 11 on the "base" 3, and then the "handle" 1 with the "needle" 5 attached descends. The "leaf spring" 15 is shown as an example, and can also be changed to a "coil spring" or the like.
The "temporary fastening device" provided by the present invention is characterized by the "needles" 5, and one or more "needles" 5 are used, an example of which is shown in Figure 5. The characteristics of each "needle" 5 and the operation pattern when temporarily fastening the "cloth" 11 are explained below with reference to Figure 6.
When the "needle" 5 of the "temporary fastening device" shown in Figure 5(a) is used, the "needle" 5(a) attached to the end of the "handle" 1 is pressed down, penetrates the "cloth" 11, and then is pulled up, causing the protrusions on both sides of the plate-like surface to pull the fibers of the lower cloth towards the upper cloth, temporarily fastening the top and bottom of the "cloth" 11 together.
When the "needle" 5 of the "temporary fastening device" shown in Figure 5(b) is used, the "needle" 5 attached to the end of the "handle" 1 is pressed down to penetrate the "cloth" 11, causing the protrusions on both sides of the plate to pull the fibers of the upper cloth towards the lower cloth, temporarily fastening the top and bottom of the "cloth" 11.
When the "needle" 5 of the "temporary fastening device" shown in Figure 5(c) is used, a protrusion is attached to the opposite side of a single plate-shaped needle, and by penetrating the "cloth" 11 and then pulling it up, one protrusion has the role of drawing the fibers of the lower cloth towards the upper cloth, and the other protrusion has the role of drawing the fibers of the upper cloth towards the lower cloth, giving the single "needle" 5 the same function as Figures 5(a) and 5(b), and serving to temporarily fasten the top and bottom of the "cloth" 11.
It is also possible to make the "needle" 5 of the "temporary fastening device" cylindrical as shown in Figure 5(d) and attach an upward protrusion as shown in Figure 5(a) to the side of the needle and a downward protrusion as shown in Figure 5(b) at a position shifted laterally from the protrusion in Figure 5(a), thereby temporarily fastening the top and bottom of the "cloth" 11.
As shown in Figures 5(e) and 5(f), the "needle" 5 of the "temporary fastening device" is a cylindrical needle with a coating of abrasive grains like sandpaper on its surface. By pressing down on the "needle" 5 attached to the tip of the "needle fastener" 4 and pulling it up after penetrating the "cloth" 11, it is possible to pull the fibers of one "cloth" 11 towards the other "cloth" 11 and temporarily fasten it.
Also, it is possible to combine two or more of the needles in Fig. 5(a), (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f) into a single "needle" 5 of the "temporary fastening device" in the form of a plate as shown in Fig. 5(g) and (i). Fig. 5(h) and (j) are perspective views of Fig. 5(g) and (i), and Fig. 5(k) and (l) are examples in which Fig. 5(g) and (i) are attached to a "handle" 1. A specific example is shown in Fig. 9(a).
Figure 5 (m) shows an embodiment in which individual needles such as those shown in Figures 5 (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f) are combined and attached to the "needle holder" 4. If the individual needles are made removable, they can be replaced individually. Figure 8 shows a specific example in which the individual "needles" 5 are attached to the "handle" 1 via the "needle holder" 4.
When comparing the temporary fastening effect of various "needles" 5 attached to a "temporary fastening device" in a single action of penetrating the "cloth" 11 and then pulling it up, it goes without saying that the "needles" 5 in Figures 5(g) and (i), which are an integral combination of two or more of the same individual needles, have a greater temporary fastening effect and require more work than the individual "needles" 5 in Figures 5(a), (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f).
Figure 8 shows a front view, a plan view, and a side view of an embodiment in which individual needles such as those shown in Figures 5(a), (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f) are fastened to the "handle" 1 via a "needle fastener" 4. Incidentally, the "needle fastener" 4 has holes through which individual "needles" 5 can be inserted from below, and the "needles" 5 inserted into the holes are fastened with a screw from the front of the "needle fastener" 4. Also, in this embodiment, the "needle fastener" 4 is fastened with a screw from the top of the "handle" 1, and the top of the "handle" 1 is fixed to the "handle cover" 2 shown in Figure 4.
In Figure 9(a), the front part of the "handle" 1 is bent into an L-shape, and its tip is processed into a "needle holder" 4, into which a plate-shaped "needle" 5 is inserted from below. In addition, in this embodiment, the "needle" 5 inserted from below into the processed "needle holder" 4 is fixed with a screw from the front of the "handle" 1 processed into the "needle holder" 4, and the upper part of the "handle" 1 is fixed to the "handle cover" 2 shown in Figure 4. Incidentally, since the "needle" 5 can be removed, it is possible to replace the "needle" 5 if it deteriorates.
Figure 9(b) shows an embodiment in which the front part of the "handle" 1 is bent into an L-shape without using a "needle fastener" 4, the tip of which is processed into a plate-shaped "needle" 5, and the upper part is fixed to the "handle cover" 2 shown in Figure 4. In this case, the entire "handle" 1, including the needle at the tip, may be made of the same material as long as a temporary fastening effect can be obtained for the needle at the tip, but if a temporary fastening effect cannot be obtained, it is possible to change only the needle at the tip to a more durable material (by heat treatment, etc.).
Regarding the thickness and strength of each "needle" 5, a thick "needle" 5 is likely to damage the fabric, so the thinner the better as long as it is possible to pull out the fibers of the fabric, and the stronger the needle, the less likely it is to break or deteriorate.
1 to 4, 6 and 9(a) show an embodiment of a "temporary fastening device" using the "needle" 5 shown in FIG. 5(g).
