(d)前記成形体を所望の形状に加工する段階;及び
(e)前記加工された成形体を焼結する段階;を含むシール用部材の製造方法を提供する。
(a)複数の円柱形または多角柱形グラファイトをモールドに互いに離隔して配置する段階;
(b)前記グラファイト間の空間にシリコンカーバイド及びバインダーを含む組成物を充填する段階;
(c)前記モールドの内部を加圧して成形体を製造する段階;
(d)前記成形体を所望の形状に加工する段階;及び
(e)前記加工された成形体を焼結する段階;を含むことができる。
平均粒径が10μmのシリコンカーバイド粉末95重量%とバインダーとして5重量%のポリビニルアルコール(PVA)をボールミルを用いて混合してシリコンカーバイドスラリーを製造した後、前記スラリーを噴霧乾燥させてシリコンカーバイド顆粒を製造した。
下記表1に示すように、円柱形グラファイト直径及び全体面積対比摩擦面のグラファイト面積を異なるように調整して製造したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法でシール用部材を製造した。
平均粒径が5μmのグラファイト粒子27重量%及び平均粒径が10μmのシリコンカーバイド粉末63重量%、バインダーとしてポリビニルアルコール(PVA)10重量%を混合してスラリーを製造し、噴霧乾燥してグラファイト-シリコンカーバイド顆粒を調製した。
前記実施例1~4及び比較例1で製造されたシール用部材の物性を以下の方法で評価した。
AND社GF-6100天秤を用いて、アルキメデス法(Archimedes)でシール用部材の密度を評価した。
Seal用部材の評価手順に従って、圧力-速度限界(P-V Limit)試験方法で接触材の摩耗量を測定した。

Claims (12)
- (a)複数の円柱形または多角柱形グラファイトをモールドに互いに離隔して平行に配置する段階;
(b)前記グラファイト間の空間にシリコンカーバイド及びバインダーを含む組成物を充填する段階;
(c)前記モールドの内部を加圧して成形体を製造する段階;
(d)前記成形体を所望の形状に加工する段階;及び
(e)前記加工された成形体を焼結する段階;を含み、
前記複数の円柱形または多角柱形グラファイトは、摩耗面に垂直方向に配置され、摩耗面に露出するシリコンカーバイドを含む基材面と複数の円柱形または多角柱形グラファイトの断面とが平面をなすように加工することを特徴とする摩擦が発生するシール部に用いられるシール用部材の製造方法。 - 前記複数の円柱形または多角柱形グラファイト間の間隔のうち、最小間隔が最大間隔の60%以上となるように配置されたことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記複数の円柱形または多角柱形グラファイト間の間隔のうち、最小間隔が最大間隔の80%以上となるように配置されたことを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記シール用部材のいずれかの断面において、複数の円柱形または多角柱形グラファイトが占める面積が全体断面積の5~50%であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記複数の円柱形または多角柱形グラファイトは、断面の最大幅が10μm~2000μmであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記シール用部材は、円筒形の管状を有することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記シリコンカーバイドは、反応焼結シリコンカーバイド、固相焼結シリコンカーバイド、及び液相焼結シリコンカーバイドからなる群より選択される1種以上であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記シール用部材は、回転体と固定体との間をシーリングすることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記シール用部材は、回転機器の軸封装置に用いられることを特徴とする、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記(b)段階は、グラファイト間の空間にシリコンカーバイド及びバインダーを含む組成物を充填して接触材を形成し、その上部にシリコンカーバイド及びバインダーを含む組成物をさらに充填して母材を形成する段階を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のシール用部材の製造方法。
- 前記接触材の長さは、全シール用部材の全長を基準として50%以下であることを特徴とする、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記シール用部材は、円筒形の管状を有することを特徴とする、請求項10に記載の方法。
