Claims (21)
- 出口絞りを介して、デジタル画像の表現であるコリメート画像を投影するための画像プロジェクタであって、前記画像プロジェクタは、
(a)画素素子の二次元アレイを提供する空間光変調器であって、前記画素素子の各々は、前記画素素子によって透過あるいは反射される光の特性を変調するように制御可能である、空間光変調器と、
(b)前記空間光変調器に照明を伝達する照明装置であって、前記空間光変調器に照明を供給する少なくとも1つの照明源を含んでなる照明装置と、
(c)前記空間光変調器および前記照明装置に電子接続された制御装置と、
(d)前記空間光変調器からの照明をコリメートして、前記出口絞りに向けられるコリメート画像を生成するように構成される、少なくとも1つの光学素子のコリメート装置と、
を備え、
ここで、前記照明装置は、前記空間光変調器の複数の領域を空間的に連続したパターンで照らすように構成され、各領域は複数の前記画素素子を含み、ならびに、前記制御装置は、コリメート画像を投影するように、前記画素素子および前記照明装置を同期制御するように構成され、画素強度はデジタル画像に対応し、
前記照明装置は、前記空間光変調器の二次元アレイにわたって照明のビームを走査するように配置される走査装置を備え、
前記制御装置は、前記空間光変調器、前記走査装置及び前記少なくとも1つの照明源に同期信号を生成することによって、前記画素素子及び前記照明装置を同期的に制御するように構成されてなる、画像プロジェクタ。 - 前記照明のビームは前記二次元アレイの一次元に及び、前記走査装置は一次元の走査パターンで前記照明のビームを直交する次元で走査する、請求項1に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記制御装置は、二次元アレイにわたって広がる一連の行の二次元アレイの画素素子を更新し、ここで、前記走査装置は、前記一連の行の後に続くように同期され、前記照明装置は、画像の更新された行の部分を順次照らして、前記二次元アレイ全体の更新を完了する、請求項2に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記照明装置は、異なる角度位置で少なくとも2つの異なる色の少なくとも2つのビームを同時に生成するように構成され、ここで、前記制御装置は、前記ビームの1つ目の通過と前記ビームの2つ目の通過との間に前記二次元アレイの画素素子を更新する、請求項3に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記走査装置は、二次元の走査パターンで前記照明のビームを走査する、請求項1に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記走査装置は、光ファイバーの先端と、前記光ファイバーの先端を変位させるために配置されるアクチュエータとを備える、請求項1に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記照明装置は、前記複数の領域を照らすための複数の、独立して切り替え可能な照明源を備える、請求項1に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記制御装置は、
(a)二次元アレイの前記領域の各々に対応するデジタル画像の一部において、デジタル画像の画素の最大必要強度を決定すること、
(b)前記領域内で対応する最大必要強度を生成するのに十分な、前記領域の少なくとも1つのための低下した照度レベルを決定すること、
(c)前記低下した照度レベルに基づいて必要な投影画像強度を生成するために、少なくとも1つの領域内の画素のための修正された画素強度マップを生成すること;および、
(d)前記少なくとも1つの領域内の前記画素素子が前記修正された画素強度マップに従って作動する間に、前記低下した照度レベルで少なくとも1つの領域を照らすために前
記照明装置を作動させること、
を行うように構成される、
請求項1に記載の画像プロジェクタ。 - 前記制御装置は、さらに、前記二次元アレイのマトリックス中のある領域が走査され照明されている間に、前記マトリックスの他の領域の画素を更新することを特徴とする、請求項8に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記照明装置は照明絞りから前記照明を送達し、前記画像プロジェクタは、前記照明絞りと前記空間光変調器との間の光路に配置された照明光学系をさらに備え、ここで、前記照明光学系および前記コリメート装置は、前記照明絞りの像が前記出口絞りに実質的に当たるように構成される、請求項1に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記照明光学系および前記コリメート装置は反射光学構成部品を使用して実装され、な
らびに、前記照明光学系から前記出口絞りまでの光路は空隙なしで実装される、請求項10に記載の画像プロジェクタ。 - 前記照明光学系は光軸を有し、ならびに、前記照明装置からの光は、前記光軸に対してオフセット角度で前記照明光学系に到達する、請求項11に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記空間光変調器から前記コリメート装置までを通る照明は、第1の偏光ビームスプリッタを通過し、第2の偏光ビームスプリッタで反射され、前記第2の偏光ビームスプリッタの配向は、前記第1の偏光ビームスプリッタに対してP偏光された照明が、前記第2の偏光ビームスプリッタに対してS偏光されるような配向である、請求項12に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記照明光学系から前記空間光変調器までを通る照明は、第1の偏光ビームスプリッタを通過し、第2の偏光ビームスプリッタで反射され、前記第2の偏光ビームスプリッタの配向は、前記第1の偏光ビームスプリッタに対してP偏光された照明が、前記第2の偏光ビームスプリッタに対してS偏光されるような配向である、請求項11に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記照明光学系および前記コリメート装置は反射光学構成部品を使用して実装され、ならびに、前記照明絞りから前記出口絞りまでの光路は構成部品間の空隙なしで実装される、請求項10に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記照明絞りに配置されるディフューザをさらに備える、請求項10に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記ディフューザは実質的に線形の強度分布を有する、請求項16に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記ディフューザは長方形の強度分布を有する、請求項16に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
- 前記照明絞りにおいて、角度の範囲を走査する照明のビームを生成するために配置される走査装置をさらに備える、請求項10に記載の画像プロジェクタ。
