Description
Claims (6)
- 誘電体からなる第1基板と、
前記第1基板の上に非導電性接着剤による接着層で接着された半絶縁性の半導体からなる第2基板と、
前記第2基板の上に形成されて電気光学効果による光変調領域を備えるマッハツェンダ変調部と、
前記第2基板の上に形成された前記光変調領域に変調信号を伝送するためのコプレーナ線路と
を備え、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板との合計の板厚は、前記コプレーナ線路の管内波長の1/4以上の厚さとされ、
前記第2基板の厚さは、300μm以下とされていることを特徴とするマッハツェンダ変調器。 - 請求項1記載のマッハツェンダ変調器において、
前記第2基板の電気抵抗率は、1×107(Ωcm)以上とされている
ことを特徴とするマッハツェンダ変調器。 - 請求項1または2記載のマッハツェンダ変調器において、
前記第1基板の熱膨張係数は、4.0〜5.0×10-6[/K]とされ、
前記第1基板の熱伝導率は、100[W/(mK)]以上とされている
ことを特徴とするマッハツェンダ変調器。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のマッハツェンダ変調器において、
前記接着層は、熱伝導率を厚さで除した値が2.0×104[W/(m2×K)]以上とされていることを特徴とするマッハツェンダ変調器。 - 請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のマッハツェンダ変調器において、
前記マッハツェンダ変調部の導波路端面側において、
前記第1基板の側面は、前記接着層の厚さだけ前記第2基板の内側に配置され、
前記導波路端面側以外において、
前記第1基板の側面は、前記第2基板の側面と等しくされているまたは前記第2基板の内側に配置されている
ことを特徴とするマッハツェンダ変調器。 - 請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載のマッハツェンダ変調器において、
前記第1基板は、金属からなる部材の上に配置されていることを特徴とするマッハツェンダ変調器。
