Claims (9)
- 物理的特性が周期的に変化する連続部と、前記連続部が中断する不連続部と、を備えるスケールと、
前記スケールに対して相対変位し、前記スケールの前記物理的特性を検出する検出部と、
前記検出部から出力される変位検出用信号に基づいて、前記スケールの原点を検出する処理部と、を、有するエンコーダにおいて、
前記検出部は、前記物理的特性に対して前記検出部から出力される前記変位検出用信号に寄与する感度を有する感度部と、前記物理的特性に対して前記検出部から出力される前記変位検出用信号に寄与する感度を有さない不感度部を備え、
前記処理部は、前記不連続部における物理的特性を前記感度部が検出する場合に前記検出部が出力する前記変位検出用信号の振幅値、および前記不連続部における物理的特性を前記不感度部が検出する場合に前記検出部が出力する前記変位検出用信号の振幅値に基づいて前記原点を検出することを特徴とするエンコーダ。 - 前記感度部および前記不感度部の前記スケールの変位方向に沿う長さは、前記検出部において前記連続部の波長に相当する長さより長いことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のエンコーダ。
- 前記検出部は、前記スケールの変位方向において、第1の端部から順に、前記感度部、前記不感度部、前記感度部、前記不感度部、前記感度部を備え、
前記処理部は、前記不連続部における物理的特性を前記検出部の両端に配置される感度部のいずれか一方が検出する場合に前記検出部が出力する信号の振幅値、および前記不連続部における物理的特性を前記一方の感度部に隣接する不感度部が検出する場合に前記検出部が出力する信号の振幅値に基づいて前記原点を検出することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載のエンコーダ。 - 前記処理部は、前記検出部から出力される前記変位検出用信号のうち、前記検出部において前記連続部の1波長に相当する長さにおける最大の信号値と最小の信号値との差を振幅値として算出することを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載のエンコーダ。
- 前記処理部は、前記検出部から出力される少なくとも2相の前記変位検出用信号の2乗和に基づいて振幅値を算出することを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載のエンコーダ。
- 前記処理部は、前記検出部から出力される信号の数を数える計数装置を備え、
前記計数装置は、前記処理部が原点を検出すると、数えた信号の数を所定値に更新することを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれか1項に記載のエンコーダ。 - 前記エンコーダは、リニアエンコーダであることを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれか1項に記載のエンコーダ。
- 前記エンコーダは、ロータリーエンコーダであることを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれか1項に記載のエンコーダ。
- 請求項1から8のいずれか1項に記載のエンコーダを有することを特徴とする装置。
