  For example, in the case of the manuscript shown in FIG. 2, if the user wants to delete the character “2017.3.3” without deleting the character “Confidential” among the handwritten characters, the user must specify the handwritten character and the specific color. Therefore, the image processing unit 23 does not delete the character “Confidential” in the document image, but deletes the character “2017.3.3”.

  As described above, according to the above-described embodiment, image reading section 12 reads a document image from a document. The specified color specifying unit 21 specifies one or more specified colors, and the specified character type specifying unit 22 specifies a specified character type.
