Claims (5)
- 表示パネルの水平走査ラインに沿って並置されている画素列中においてk個(kは自然数)おきに配置されている画素からなる第1の画素群に属する各画素に夫々対応した映像データ片からなる第1の映像データ群と、前記画素列中において前記第1の画素群に属する画素同士の間に配置されている画素からなる第2の画素群に属する各画素に夫々対応した映像データ片からなる第2の映像データ群と、を含む入力映像データを受けて、前記映像データ片の各々に対応した階調電圧を表示パネルに印加する駆動装置であって、
前記第1の画素群に属する各画素に夫々が対応して設けられており、前記第1の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々をアナログの電圧値に変換して、前記第1の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々に対応した前記階調電圧を得る複数のD/A変換器と、
夫々が、前記複数の前記D/A変換器が生成した複数の前記階調電圧のうちで互いに同一の色成分に対応した一対の階調電圧に基づく補間処理により、前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々に対応した前記階調電圧を得る複数の階調電圧補間回路と、を有し、
前記階調電圧補間回路は、前記第1の画素群内において互いに隣接する一対の画素に夫々対応した前記D/A変換器の各々で得られた前記一対の階調電圧のうちの第1の階調電圧と第2の階調電圧との平均値を平均階調電圧として求める平均算出部と、
前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に基づき、前記第1の階調電圧、前記第2の階調電圧、及び前記平均階調電圧のうちから1つを選択しこれを前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に対応した前記階調電圧として出力するセレクタと、を含むことを特徴とする表示パネルの駆動装置。 - 前記第1の階調電圧及び前記第2の階調電圧の加重平均を加重平均階調電圧として求める加重平均算出部を含み、
前記セレクタは、前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に基づき、前記第1の階調電圧、前記第2の階調電圧、前記平均階調電圧及び前記加重平均階調電圧のうちから1つを選択しこれを前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に対応した前記階調電圧として出力することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示パネルの駆動装置。 - 前記水平走査ラインに並置されている前記画素列中において、奇数番目に配置されている前記画素に対応した前記映像データ片が前記第1の映像データ群に属し、偶数番目に配置されている前記画素に対応した前記映像データ片が前記第2の映像データ群に属することを特徴とする請求項2〜4のいずれか1に記載の表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記表示パネルの前記画素の各々は、前記水平走査ラインに沿って並置された夫々が赤色、緑色、及び青色を担う3つの表示セルからなり、
各画素に対応した前記映像データ片は、赤色成分を担う前記映像データ片と、緑色成分を担う前記映像データ片と、青色成分を担う前記映像データ片と、からなり、
前記階調電圧補間回路は、夫々が同一の色成分を担う前記映像データ片の各々に基づいて前記D/A変換器が生成した前記第1の階調電圧及び前記第2の階調電圧に基づく補間処理により、前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記同一の色成分を担う前記映像データ片に対応した前記階調電圧を得ることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1に記載の表示パネルの駆動装置。 - 表示パネルの水平走査ラインに並置されている画素列中においてk個(kは自然数)おきに配置されている画素からなる第1の画素群に属する各画素に夫々対応した映像データ片からなる第1の映像データ群と、前記画素列中において前記第1の画素群に属する画素同士の間に配置されている画素からなる第2の画素群に属する各画素に夫々対応した映像データ片からなる第2の映像データ群と、を含む入力映像データを受けて、前記映像データ片の各々に対応した階調電圧を表示パネルに印加する表示パネル駆動方法であって、
前記第1の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々をアナログの電圧値に変換して、前記第1の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々に対応した前記階調電圧を生成し、
生成した前記第1の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々に対応した前記階調電圧のうちで、前記第1の画素群内において互いに隣接する一対の画素に夫々対応しており且つ同一の色成分に対応した第1及び第2の階調電圧の平均値を平均階調電圧として求め、
前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に基づき、前記第1の階調電圧、前記第2の階調電圧、及び前記平均階調電圧のうちから1つを選択しこれを前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に対応した前記階調電圧として出力することを特徴とする表示パネル駆動方法。
