Description
さらに、前記第2粒子相の(準)金属及びリチウム含有酸化物の例にはLi2SiO 3 、Li2SiO、Li2SnO、Li4SiO4、Li2Si2O5、Li6Si2O7、Li2Si3O7、Li8SiO6、Li2SnO3、Li5AlO4、LiAlO2、LiAl5O8、LiSbO3、LiSb3O8、Li3SbO4、Li5SbO5、Li7SbO6、LiSb3O8、Li0.62Bi7.38O11.38、LiBiO2、LiBiO3、Li3BiO4、Li5BiO5、Li7BiO6、LiBi12O18.50、LiAsO3、Li3AsO4、Li4As2O7、Li2GeO5、Li2Ge4O9、Li2Ge7O15、Li2GeO3、Li4Ge5O12、Li4Ge9O20、Li4GeO4、Li6Ge2O7、Li8GeO6、Li2PbO3、Li4PbO4、Li8PbO6、Li6ZnO4、LiInO2、Li3InO3、LiGaO2、LiGa5O8、Li5GaO4などがある。但し、これに制限されず、リチウムが(準)金属酸化物内に含まれているものであれば、結晶質であれ非晶質であれ特に制限されない。このような第2粒子相を電極活物質に含ませることにより、電池の充/放電時にアノード内にリチウム酸化物とリチウムメタル酸化物がより少なく生成され、したがって、初期非可逆により発生するカソードのデッドボリューム(dead volume)の発生が最小化できる。
【補正の理由】
出願当初記載された化合物「Li2SiO」は、原子価から明らかに誤りであったことから、本来の正しい化合物『Li2SiO 3 』に補正致しました。
エタノールに塩化リチウム(Lithium chloride、LiCl)50重量部を溶解させた後、一酸化ケイ素(SiO)50重量部を均一に分散させて分散液を形成した。この分散液を70℃の温度で加熱し溶媒を除去して混合物を得た。得た混合物を窒素雰囲気下で800℃の温度で熱処理を行って最終の電極活物質を製造した。製造された電極活物質の走査電子顕微鏡(Scanning Electron Microscopy、以下SEM)写真を図1に示した。
塩化リチウム50重量部及び一酸化ケイ素50重量部の代りに、塩化リチウム80重量部及び一酸化ケイ素20重量部を用いることを除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で電極活物質及び電池を製造した。
塩化リチウム50重量部の代りに、酸素を含まないリチウム塩としてヨウ化リチウム(LiI)76重量部を用いることを除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で電極活物質及び電池を製造した。
塩化リチウム50重量部及び一酸化ケイ素50重量部の代りに、塩化リチウム25重量部及び一酸化スズ(SnO)75重量部を用いることを除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で電極活物質及び電池を製造した。
塩化リチウム50重量部及び一酸化ケイ素50重量部の代りに、炭酸リチウム(Li2CO3)47重量部及び一酸化ケイ素53重量部を用いることを除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で電極活物質及び電池を製造した。この時、製造された電極活物質の走査電子顕微鏡(Scanning Electron Microscopy、以下SEM)写真を図2に示した。
塩化リチウム(Lithium chloride、LiCl)50重量部及び一酸化ケイ素(SiO)50重量部の混合物を熱処理する代りに、一酸化ケイ素100重量部を800℃の温度で熱処理することを除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で電極活物質及び電池を製造した。
塩化リチウムと一酸化ケイ素の混合物を熱処理して得た電極活物質の代りに、熱処理しない一酸化ケイ素(SiO)100重量部を用いることを除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で電池を製造した。
この時、前記電極活物質の走査電子顕微鏡(Scanning Electron Microscopy、以下SEM)写真を図3に示した。
塩化リチウム50重量部及び一酸化ケイ素50重量部の代りに、酸素を含むリチウム塩として水酸化リチウム(LiOH)36重量部及び一酸化ケイ素64重量部を用いることを除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で電極活物質及び電池を製造した。
塩化リチウム50重量部及び一酸化ケイ素50重量部の混合物を熱処理する代りに、一酸化スズ(SnO)100重量部を800℃の温度で熱処理することを除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で電極活物質及び電池を製造した。
塩化リチウム50重量部及び一酸化ケイ素50重量部の混合物を熱処理して得た電極活物質の代りに、熱処理しない一酸化スズ(SnO)100重量部を用いることを除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で電池を製造した。
実施例1ないし4及び比較例1ないし6で製造された電極活物質を用いた電池の1サイクルでの充/放電特性を測定し、その結果を表1及び図4に示した。この時、下記の条件下で充/放電を実施した。これと共に、電極活物質内の第1粒子相(a)と第2粒子相(b)の含有の割合(a:bのモル比)、及び電極活物質内(準)金属(M、M=Si又はSn)と酸素(O)の含有の割合(M:Oのモル比)を測定した。
−電池の充/放電条件−
電池の充電:5mVまで定電流で充電した後、5mVで電流が0.005Cに到達するまで定電圧で充電した後完了した。
電池の放電:1.0Vまで定電流で放電を施した。
本発明の電極活物質の結合構造を知るため、Si−核磁気共鳴(Nuclear Magnetic Resonance;NMR)、Li−NMR及びXRD(X-Ray Diffractometry)をそれぞれ行った。この時、実施例1で製造された電極活物質を用い、この対照群1として比較例2で利用された熱処理したSiOを用い、対照群2として比較例3で利用された熱処理しないSiOを用い、対照群3としてLiClを用いた。測定結果を図5ないし7に示した。
Claims (17)
- (a)リチウムと合金化が可能な(準)金属酸化物からなる第1粒子相と、及び
(b)前記(準)金属と同一の(準)金属及びリチウムを同時に含有する酸化物からなる第2粒子相とからなり、
前記第1粒子相が非晶質相であり、
前記第1粒子相の(準)金属酸化物中(準)金属が、Si、Sn、Al、Sb、Bi、As、Ge、Pb、Zn、In、Ga及びこれらの合金からなる群から選択されてなるものであり、
前記第2粒子相の(準)金属及びリチウム含有酸化物が、Li2SiO3、Li2SnO、Li4SiO4、Li2Si2O5、Li6Si2O7、Li2Si3O7、Li8SiO6、Li2SnO3、Li5AlO4、LiAlO2、LiAl5O8、LiSbO3、LiSb3O8、Li3SbO4、Li5SbO5、Li7SbO6、LiSb3O8、Li0.62Bi7.38O11.38、LiBiO2、LiBiO3、Li3BiO4、Li5BiO5、Li7BiO6、LiBi12O18.50、LiAsO3、Li3AsO4、Li4As2O7、Li2GeO5、Li2Ge4O9、Li2Ge7O15、Li2GeO3、Li4Ge5O12、Li4Ge9O20、Li4GeO4、Li6Ge2O7、Li8GeO6、Li2PbO3、Li4PbO4、Li8PbO6、Li6ZnO4、LiInO2、Li3InO3、LiGaO2、LiGa5O8及びLi5GaO4でなる群から選択されてなることを特徴とする、電極活物質。 - 前記第1粒子相と前記第2粒子相が、電極活物質内で互いに混在されていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 1つの前記第1粒子相又は2以上の前記第1粒子相の集合体が、前記第2粒子相により囲まれてなることを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記第1粒子相と前記第2粒子相が、5:95〜95:5重量比で含まれてなることを特徴とする、請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質。
- 電極活物質内に含有された(準)金属(M)と酸素(O)の割合が、M/O=1以上のモル比であることを特徴とする、請求項1〜4の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記第1粒子相が、大きさ(平均粒径)が0.1nm〜5μm範囲であり、
前記第2粒子相が、大きさ(平均粒径)が0.1nm〜20μm範囲であることを特徴とする、請求項1〜5の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質。 - 前記第2粒子相の(準)金属及びリチウム含有酸化物が、結晶質のもの、非晶質のもの、又はこれら全てのものであることを特徴とする、請求項1〜6の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質。
- アノード活物質であることを特徴とする、請求項1〜7の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質。
- 請求項1〜8の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質を用いた二次電池。
- 初期効率が50%以上であることを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の二次電池。
- a)酸素を含まないリチウム塩、及びリチウムと合金化が可能な(準)金属酸化物を化学的又は機械的混合する段階と、及び
b)前記混合物を不活性雰囲気下で前記酸素を含まないリチウム塩の溶融点から酸素を含まないリチウム塩の沸騰点範囲の温度で熱処理し、或いは
前記混合物を機械的合金(Mechanical Alloying)処理する段階とを備えてなり、
前記(準)金属酸化物中(準)金属が、Si、Sn、Al、Sb、Bi、As、Ge、Pb、Zn、In、Ga及びこれらの合金からなる群から選択されたものであることを特徴とする、請求項1〜8の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質の製造方法。 - 前記酸素を含まないリチウム塩が、LiCl、LiBF4、LiAlCl4、LiSCN、LiSbF6、LiPF6、LiAsF6、LiB10Cl10、LiF、LiBr及びLiIからなる群から選択されたことを特徴とする、請求項11に記載の電極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記酸素を含まないリチウム塩と(準)金属酸化物が、5:95〜80:20重量比で混合されることを特徴とする、請求項11又は12に記載の電極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記化学的混合段階が、酸素を含まないリチウム塩を溶媒に溶解させて製造された溶液に(準)金属酸化物を分散させて分散液を形成する段階と、及び
前記分散液を乾燥する段階を含んでなることを特徴とする、請求項11〜13の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質の製造方法。 - 前記機械的混合が、ボールミル(ball mill)、流(遊)星ミル(planetary mill)、撹拌ボールミル(stirred ball mill)又は振動ミル(vibrating mill)を利用することを特徴とする、請求項11〜14の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記熱処理温度が500〜2000℃であることを特徴とする、請求項11〜15の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記機械的合金処理が、ボールミル(ball mill)、流(遊)星ミル(planetary mill)、撹拌ボールミル(stirred ball mill)又は振動ミル(vibrating mill)を利用して行われることを特徴とする、請求項11〜16の何れか一項に記載の電極活物質の製造方法。
