However, comb-shaped applicators tend to be inferior in volume effect for making eyelashes appear thick and long, and a mascara applicator that can provide a volume feeling while maintaining a separate effect has been demanded. Usually, in order to meet this demand, it is necessary to apply a large amount of mascara at once, or to apply a large amount of mascara to each eyelash by repeating the mascara application operation many times.
In order to apply a large amount of mascara liquid to each eyelash, it was convenient that a large amount of mascara liquid was stored in the mascara applicator. There was still a fact that there was no satisfactory mascara applicator.
For example, in order to store mascara liquid, it is conceivable to increase the comb tooth pitch of the applicator to secure a space for storing mascara liquid between the comb teeth. Example 1
Each mascara applicator having the following dimensional conditions was prepared, and the amount of tack and the dispersibility were tested. The results are shown in Table 1.
One type having a base side width dimension L1 of the wide comb teeth 4a of 3.0 mm was prepared.

Four types of base side width dimension L2 of the narrow comb teeth 4b of 1.2 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, and 3.0 mm were prepared.

The height L3 of the comb teeth of the wide comb teeth 4a and the narrow comb teeth 4b was unified to 2.0 mm.

The symbol of each evaluation means ◎ → very good ○ → excellent △ → slightly inferior.

As a result of the above, the overall evaluation that is particularly excellent in terms of the amount of stickiness and the spreadability is that the width L2 on the root side of the narrow comb teeth 4b is 1.5 mm, that is, the narrow comb teeth 4b with respect to the wide comb teeth 4a. Compared with the case where the root side width dimension L2 having no liquid storage space is 3 mm, the volume increase effect and the separation effect are very excellent, and both effects are well balanced. The next best results were obtained when the width L2 of the narrow comb teeth 4b was 2.0 mm, that is, the area ratio of the narrow comb teeth 4b to the wide comb teeth 4a was 67%. Although the amount of tack was slightly inferior to that in the above case, the volume increase effect and the separation effect were exhibited in a balanced manner.
Further, when the base side width dimension L2 of the narrow comb teeth 4b is 1.2 mm, that is, when the area ratio of the narrow comb teeth 4b to the wide comb teeth 4a is 40%, the dispersibility is compared with the above case. Although slightly inferior, it was sufficient to achieve both a volume-up effect and a separate effect.

  As a result, when the area ratio of the narrow comb teeth 4b to the wide comb teeth 4a is 40 to 70%, both effects can be obtained by fully exhibiting the volume increase effect and the separation effect as a mascara applicator. It has been demonstrated that both of these can be achieved. If this area ratio is less than 40%, the amount of the content is too much and it becomes easy to get lumps. On the other hand, if it exceeds 70%, the volume increase effect becomes insufficient.

Further, the base side width dimension L1 of the wide comb teeth 4a is preferably 2.9 mm to 3.1 mm, and the base side width dimension L2 of the narrow comb teeth 4b is preferably 1.2 mm to 2.0 mm. Further, when the width dimension ratio of the base side width dimension L2 of the narrow comb teeth 4b to the base side width dimension L1 of the wide comb teeth 4a is 40 to 70%, the volume increase effect and the separation as a mascara applicator are achieved. It has also been demonstrated that both effects can be achieved with full effect. If this area ratio is less than 40%, the amount of the content is too much and it becomes easy to get lumps. On the other hand, if it exceeds 70%, the volume increase effect becomes insufficient.
The height L3 of each of the wide comb teeth 4a and the narrow comb teeth 4b is preferably 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm in consideration of ease of use.

The material of the mascara applicator of the present invention may be any material that is used for ordinary mascara combs, and in particular, can be manufactured by injection molding using polyamide or polyester as a material.
